Pretty sure it’s natural rubber.

yes i have it on the front of my boat to protect the rope fender so definately waterproof.

How can you get rid of the smell? Can it be sealed? I've left mine outside it's that strong.

I have had some sheets for over a year and they still smell if I get up close and sniff them . I can only suggest that the smell declines over time but perhaps never goes a way. Perhaps you need to review where you are using them and choose another product or a more ventilated area.
