The colleges profiles are pretty much in line with the experience you get from on-site visits (for the places we visited). The information is synthetic and nuanced. It is a solid resource for your high schooler in their college search.

Excellent
My grandson is exploring colleges and this is perfect.

Classic guide - well written
I like having the physical book so that I can page through it in with my kids. There are a handful of colleges that are missing which I knocked one star off for (eg the Cal Poly schools and the Art School in Pasadena) but otherwise definitely worth getting.

Very Helpful Book!
The media could not be loaded. Knowing where to start in the college search is extremely overwhelming, and I found this book to be so helpful! It gives so much information about each college and gives you a great overview of what it’s like when you have absolutely no clue where you want to attend. Lots of information is shared about each college, like the acceptance rate the graduation rate, the quality of life rating, etc. Yes, you can find a lot of this information online, but it’s helpful to have it all in one book, especially if you’re looking at the possibility of going out of state and not being sure which state you want to go to! I highly recommend this book!

Best of a crappy bunch
Pros: they don't "rank", they just rate (academics, social, quality of life).Con: All these guides suck. they go around once every...5 years? .... and ask administrators and students to comment. I would not call it definitive, but it's a good place to start sorting what will/won't work for your kid.

Must have for college bound kids
MUST have book for college process. More of a narrative about the schools than raw numbers. Highly recommend!
