The Right Choice
Decided to go with the manual after reading many reviews. It has the firm holding of the boot in my opinion. Have done about three BC tours now and pretty satisfied I did the right thing. A very nice binding. My thoughts on the automatic had I gone that route? True or not I think the automatic binding is more for the beginner skier. No complaints and a real good price.

Easy to mount, worked great
Put these bindings on a 40 year old pair of Rossignol touring skis. Worked great. Stayed tight. No issue with them at all.

Work as advertised
The bindings worked well on my first outing of 12 miles. I would recommend these to anyone.

Manual!
Manual means you have to close the bindings by hand. Super solid and durable. Not as convenient as the step-in.

Nice step-in binding
The pattern is the same as the “NNN” touring binding.

Good for the price
Not the easiest to get the binding to lock onto the boot

Great BC bindings!
Great solid BC bindings providing a very positive and secure connection to tackle all kinds of terrain. I am also a big fan of the auto feature especially when having to remove and put back on in sketchy terrain; no futzing with bending down to release and secure a lever!

These bindings can kill you - really - no exaggeration!
Rottefella brags about how you can get out of these bindings with your ski pole <standing on solid ground>.If you truly backcountry ski, you might fall through the ice. Try swimming or climbing out of an ice hole with skis on. Doesn't work. This happened to me years ago, and FORTUNATELY, I had on my old three pin bindings that I could eject my skis with one hand.So if you truly backcountry ski, think about this soberly. Let the marketing Rottefella department brag about what's a convenience while ignoring a true life and death tradeoff, but buy something made for backcountry instead of point of sale.
