This was my first time ever making a mold and resin cast. I have a 170yo Victorian with a beautiful wrought iron porch railing and cap. Several of the top pieces were missing and I could find no replacements in reproduction outlets or salvage yards. I decided to try making resin replacements which ment making a mold. They turned out wonderfully. Pics are of original pieces with brown primer, my mold (10a) and my final resin piece to the right with a finished original to the left. A couple things I did to try to ensure success. I wrapped my mold box boards in wax paper to help the mold come out. I coated the primered original in clear acrylic to prevent the metal and primer from causing cure inhibition. I sprayed the box and original with Pam before pouring the silicone. I used a release agent before pouring the resin. The silicone was easy to mix and pour, had no bubbles and set up well. It is flexible enough to make demolding such an ornate pattern easy and has held up to 7 castings so far without any deterioration. Highly recommended.

Plenty of mixing time is very thin liquid works very well it does react to any tin products, works very well with liquid plastics the rubber is strong does not cut easily only down fall is how long it takes to cure up, I was using another product that cured in 30 minutes very expensive, I think I might have to change my supplier of rubber, this rubber is softer but stronger.

Hard to demold. And it tares easily. I wouldn't recommend it for big projects as it's too expensive.
