Washable and Waterproof Pages, Lots of Countries Represented
We homeschool, and we cook a lot together. My oldest kids go to culinary classes. All of my kids help in the kitchen a lot. We've done around the world cooking subscriptions, etc.One thing that impressed me about this cookbook is the pages. I've never seen them before in a cookbook. They are like laminated/plastic coated or something, and I looked at the description and it says they are waterproof and washable which I think is a very cool idea for a kids' cookbook or even any cookbook. That said, mine were all "stuck" together. I gently separated them, and only one was affected by this (and not very much)- I've included a photo.I love introducing kids to new foods and especially foods from different cultures. I noticed that one recipe has smoked salmon which I think a lot of kids probably haven't tried. Looking through the recipes, they seem simple but not ordinary. I think this cookbook will be perfect for my five-year-old twins. Really, I think even my older kids will enjoy it. The layout of the pages looks really nice, and the recipes look interesting to try.I have mixed feelings about the measuring cups. The ingredients list tells you how much you need of something (like 1/3 cups), but the recipe shows the measuring cups by the animal on each one. I think this is cute, and it will make it easier for young kids to pick the correct measuring cup. But, I will definitely be telling my kids the proper names, because learning fractions and figuring out amounts is a learning element (and important aspect) of cooking. It will be easy to convert them though.I feel like the current price of $30 for this set is fair considering you get the kid themed measuring cups and the cookbook that probably costs more to make than a traditional cookbook, because of the pages. I don't know if the pages sticking will be a re-occurring thing or a one-time thing (b/c it's new). If it's an issue, I'll update this review. I do feel like the issue was more because it was new print, never been opened with these unique pages. I flipped back through it later, and the pages seemed fine. The cookbook also included stickers and a map.The diversity of the countries is good. They have Algeria, Kenya, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, India, Turkey, Russia, UK, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, France. All of the recipes have a "cute" take on them, which I think kids will enjoy. This would make a cute gift for a budding chef!I look at reviews a lot while shopping. I hope this review helps!

Great, for the right person
I ordered this for my cousin’s child who is currently 3 and loves to help her mama in the kitchen with the intention of giving to her in a few months when she is closer to 4, the recommended age. It’s a very cute set, and comes in a quality box- perfect for gifting. As others have mentioned, a lot of the pages were a little stuck together, so I went through and pulled them all apart.Where I think this set falls a little short is that doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be. Recommended ages are 4-10, but the measuring cups are a little juvenile maybe for a 10 year old. However, a third of the recipes are pretty labor intensive. Not an insignificant number of them include yeasted doughs, kneading, and rolling out of dough or pastry dough. A few require a blender, and one requires deep frying. So this is not a book that would be suitable for a child whose mother is not all in to the concept. I also question whether some of the recipes would be appetizing to small children (bacalhau with cod and blinis with smoked salmon) so keep in mind how adventurous the family is. But I will say, the ingredients are kept pretty simple- you should be able to find them all at the grocery store (assuming you can get seaweed at the grocery store)I do think they’ve done a nice job getting a variety of foods into this book, and they have added fun elements to a lot of the recipes. But I think there could be a few more simple things - like why not arroz con leche since there are only 2 recipes from South America? (Love the inclusion of Argentinian empanadas, though!)The recipes do look pretty good, and I may try them myself.

Great set for kids
More than one of my kids younger than 10 love this set for a variety of reasons. First, the recipe book and all components are vibrant and colorful, which attracts the eyes of little ones. The recipes so far have been easy to follow and it lets the kids explore the kitchen and cooking (with supervision). They also enjoyed placing the flags on the map and that provided an educational opportunity to learn geography. The measuring cups are just okay in that they are not heavy duty. They work but the plastic is just meh. Color and characters on the handle are great. Overall, I would recommend this if you have a kid that is interested in cooking!edit to add that I forgot to mention that the measuring cup characters/colors coincide with the recipes to help the kids know which one to use. For instance, it may have a picture of the cat beside an ingredient so you know to use that measuring cup for the ingredient. Super easy for the kids to pick up.
