One Year Review. Excellent Product & Cleaning Tips
After a trip to Japan, the first thing I did when I got back was to have an electrician install outlets for a bidet. I did a ton of research and decided that this model was the one I was going to get. After using two of these for just over a year, here is my insights. Installation was a breeze and this is a well made product. Remote with button description are on the wall and works flawlessly. Responds every time and never had it activate randomly. One of the complaints I read about was odor from the seams in the seat, heater, and under the unit. I regularly use a Chlorox wipe (non bleach type) on the seat, paying particular attention to get into the outer and inner seam. Next, from underneath, I also clean everything, including under the little doors that open for the sprayer. Holding both sides of a wipe, you can easily move the wipe back and forth under each side of the unit where it covers the toilet rim. We do not use the dryer function, so we are not aware of any buildup that smells in the drying vent. No odors at all on either unit. I love the seat opening feature, but have disabled it on the one in the guest bathroom. It tends to startle guests and activates even if they are only using the bathroom to wash their hands. On the one in the master bathroom, it works great. Lastly, the seat heater is a great feature. Figure out what time you normally wake up and then use the timer feature to have it turn on just before. It is off overnight to not waste electricity.

Honest, Experienced Review
First off... A rating for "Softness?" WTF? Okay people... I had a WHOLE review written up in my head where I played Captain Kirk and acted out several episodes of wiping out the Klingons! But then I thought... These people don't want a laugh... They want an honest review... So here goes. I have been using my Toto bidet seat now for a few months now. It installs easily and the hardest part is wiring the outlet needed for it to work. I do all my own work and do it to code. I needed to run a wire up the outside wall to where my toilet was and then cut through wainscoting and drywall to install the outlet. Since I wanted the outlet out of the way... That meant a contorted position for a few hours. So... That took the longest part of the install. Since most of you will install this and run it off an extension cord until you have an electrician install an outlet... I'll go straight to the install. First off you will remove your old seat. CLEAN very well and install the new seat per directions! It's really THAT easy! Your kid could do it! A few tips on plumbing though and this is generic advice. NEVER USE PIPE DOPE on ANYTHING! If you MUST, and ONLY where called for, use teflon tape... But is for metal/metal or plastic/metal threads ONLY! Most plumbing these days (when it comes to hooking something up) is either a brass crush washer or a rubber seal. Teflon is NOT used there as the water should never make it to the threads! If your threads are holding back the water... You have done something wrong! So... After countless bathroom redos... Here's the straight dope! Get a wax toilet ring and have it handy! I've had the same one for 20 years. When you are putting the assembly together you can apply just a thin coating of wax. This helps the seals seat whether rubber or brass. If you are removing your tank... Apply it to the tank seal and the rubber washers (both sides) that hold the tank down. In 25 years I have NEVER had a leak doing it this way! Now... Let's move on! The remote on this was fairly intuitive. Sitting on the toilet you can tell what does what and you might decide you don't need to read the manual. You would be wrong! (as I was!) Men don't read the directions... right? Anyway... I was pretty upset with the lack of pressure until I read the manual on how to increase it. Um... Press the spray function TWICE! That you will get you percolated! The seat is INSTANT warm... So much so I thought I had diarrhea! Turn that sh*t OFF! Maybe come winter but definitely NOT summer. I turned the warm water spray to just under high as I did the blower. The spray CAN get too hot and the blower will go up hot enough to singe your butt hairs off! Seriously! The cool thing is... You can set up all this as User1 and program what you like. All the temps and positions of the spray nozzles. You need to realize that you MUST move around on the seat a little and almost try to let the water into your body (It won't but it might feel like it!) in order to remove what's there. Generally I go for about a 2 minute spray and a 1 minute dry... But you are till going to give at least 1 wipe to make sure you are dry and clean. I mounted my remote on the wall right beside the seat and I freaking LOVE this machine! If it stays working as it is, I would call this one of my favorite investments! And that is how I view it... an investment into myself! Just like having a good bed to sleep in! Now... Let's get to another side I have never seen mentioned. This setup can be a little sexual in certain ways. I mean... Sitting down and having the spray hit certain areas can totally change your mood and/or train of thought! You might sit down thinking about how you are going to tackle the project you just left in the basement... Next thing you know you're thinking about jumping someone's bones! This thing can be arousing I find. Maybe it is just me but I can't imagine that is the case. Not to sound sexist... But if I was a woman I would never leave the seat and I would have my meals brought to me! And... If you have already installed this seat and haven't thought of that... You most certainly will now... won't you? It's okay... You can say it! In closing I will say that cleanliness results from time being sprayed, directions being sprayed and viscosity of poop. So... This tool works as it should... If you work it as you should!

Perfect Washlet, Excellent Deal
This product has all the features I expect, without any functions that is only fancy but unnecessary. The price is excellent, it's half of the retail price in the store. I installed it on my existing toilet bowl. Installation is easy, just watch a YouTube video and the process is exactly like that. If you have an old house, the biggest challenge is probably dealing with the plumbing, or installing a power outlet in a tight spot. Fortunately for me, these were no issues. I don't even consider myself handy, yet I finished the installation pretty smoothly. No power tool is required, just a big flat head screw driver and a small cup to catch the dropping water when the water tube was disconnected from the tank. I did wrap some Teflon tape around all the water connectors. This is not in the installation instruction, but I always do that. Once the power is connected, everything works perfectly. The only feature I disabled is the auto lid open/close, since my toilet is right next to my bathtub, I don't want it to welcome me when I am just about to take a bath. I can still open the seat (not the lid) with a button on the remote (see picture). If you have a private toilet closet, this auto lid open/close feature would be perfect for you. All other features are very practical. It cleans, blows dry, filters the air, and cleans itself. There is no need to buy the Washlet+ model (integrated bowl and washlet), in my opinion, unless you want the auto flush function. If I'm building a new house, I would probably buy that, otherwise I think this model is just perfect.

Best decision you will ever make.
I use this every day for hours at a time. My favorite pass time.. i have saved a lot of money in toilet paper. Minimal toilet paper per use. The warming settings are the best. Super luxurious quality honestly. Easy to clean just use a toothbrush and some soapy water, it takes 3 minutes to clean.

I spent 2 weeks researching these bidet seat and finally decided on the the ToTo 550 E. I have never had or used one previously and realize now that was a big mistake. This thing is a dream! Installation was very easy. The only problem i am having is the flickering lights, as i took power from a wall switch on the opposite side of the wall. The instructions should state to use a dedicated circuit as i believe the amperage draw when running the heater , not mentioned will require a separate circuit. It’s not a big problem now but i will eventually run a new line to the panel. The auto seat feature is nice however it’s something one could do without. The seat with this feature should only be installed if the toilet is in its own room or far enough away from other fixtures so it doesn't lift if you are at the sink. When the seat lifts it sprays down the bowl, as well as after you get up. two user settings can be locked in to control everything from temperature to pressure . The seat is nice and warm(can be adjusted) seat cover Rises when you get close and if your a guy another button will raise and lower the seat. When you leave the seat cover closes shortly after. I wanted one with all the bells and whistles and this is in the ensuite bathroom. The best thing of course is the experience, you feel so much cleaner after using this, the dryer is nice however unless your planning on sitting there for ten minutes you still need a few sheets of TP to completely dry. If your sitting on the fence about any bidet seat jump off cause i do believe this is a game changer one you wont regret. UPDATE a Year later. Still the best thing for toilets, runs like a champ with no problems. I would not be without this seat! Only thing I’ve needed is another filter which was about. 45.00 cdn. UPDATE two years later. Still working like new ! Year 3 still going strong no problems. Update 2025 still going strong no problems .

This is probably then nicest looking bidet seat out there, the cotton white is a nice match to the almond colour of our elongated toilet. It’s smooth curves and low profile looks normal open or closed. Good seat too, more comfortable than the original seat, truly feels luxurious just sitting on it. Seat opening is wider and front lower, and the saddle curve just puts you in the he right spot. The seat heating is also constant, some others are barely warm at first then too hot. This is really an experience. The sounds are pretty muted even though it does a lot. Even the blow dryer is pretty quiet, and it moves a lot of air. I was surprised, it actually dries cheeks and all in under a minute, first bidet dryer that actually works, though not as well on the front wash areas. However if you have a temperature triggered skin condition as I do, it might be better to use more directed drying like the BioBidet. The sprays are fairly soft at least compared to our BioBidet 2000. That bidet is a real blaster, this one has a harder wash with just a bit of sting to let you know it’s cleaning well, but also a lot of warm soothing settings (hard to tell if they are cleaning something). Water temperature is extremely well controlled, absolutely no variation from the first spritz on. The remote could be better, mostly because it has no night lighting but only lights the function being used. The LCD display used for settings on the back is extremely hard to see for me without the backlight it really needs. It’s designed to be luxurious but a miss on that detail. Also, it’s hard to turn off some features even though the remote has a lot of settings, it’s not easy to stop the cover from popping up every time you walk by without turning off every other feature too. Installation: measure your toilet carefully, there us absolutely no adjustment for spacing between the seat mount holes. The box doesn't’ include a flexible hose to go from faucet to tee is missing, if you have older non-flexible connections to the toilet tank you will need to get a new hose. I noticed here is such a hose on the Amazon“Frequently purchased together “ list and now I know why.

Toto toilets it can be impossible to attach the diverter onto the water line for the seat water function. I will write another review after I install this Toto Washlet but for info only, I am replacing a Toto Washlet I have used for 23 years so you can't beat that quality. If the back of your current toilet is hard to access due to enclosure you will need to order this part. (6 inches Stainless Steel 7/8 Male 7/8 Female Extension Hose) to get it hooked up, which is why I am waiting for this part to give it a accurate rating. Update: Extension part arrived and installation was simple and seat performs very well.

Toto has been the gold standard in bidet for quite some time and this bidet makes no exceptions. At the time pof this writing, this item has been discontinued as it gets replaced with an updated model. You can still find this model for sale. Quality is 5* Features is only 4* as it has some shortcomings adressed by the newer model: - the sensor for the seat opening is very sensitive, the lid opens every time one enters the bathroom. For those of you with a small-medium bathroom, the lid will open every time. Yes, it can be turned OFF but what is point to get this model when you can get the cheaper model without automatic seat opening? - Toilet pre-wash happens even when the seat opening is OFF. The only way around is to turn the toilet pre-wash OFF. I wish there was a way to have it triggered on demand, but there isn't (this was fixed on the new model). - Toilet lid scratches easily, which sadly doesn't appear to have been fixed on the newwer model. Since it cannot be replaced, you would need to order a new unit, so take care of it. All in all, I would still buy it again. Highly recommended, but take a look at the newer model as well. If the price is right, both are good options.

I hesitated on this for years. Had one in my hotel in Hawaii and remembered how nice it was. Finally just bit the bullet and spent the $$$. I absolutely love it. I love that the toilet seats opens when you approach. Love the nightlight that turns on also when you approach. The warm toilet seats is really nice. We are already saving on toilet paper 😁 although I psychologically cannot NOT wipe 🤣 but only use a couple sheets per poop 💩
