Will they fix the Software glitches? Is there a product that works?
I got this(2TB) as a gift from a friend in US when I mentioned my storage problem. It solves a real need and should be lot more popular than it is. If it worked flawlessly I know many who would buy. Here's some things I've noticed:1) MacOS support is problematic: first time setup is not for beginners - it's users don't have the level of knowledge this expects.2) I have a dual user MacBook and a Windows laptop. I have a shared folder on MacBook that I want to keep in sync with Windows laptop. It doesn't finish syncing on MacBook even after 12 hours. The files seem to get copied but it keeps going in a loop. I think it gets confused by file permissions on a dual user MacBook folder. I can never be sure if it's doing the job.3) Since the file format is exFAT you always are at risk of having it bricked losing all data in case the cable gets yanked. So, data on the drive is not safe.4) I don't want *any* kind of internet connectivity. I just want these to sync my devices including mobile data over local network or bluetooth. If I wanted internet sync I didn't need a device I could just pay for a Dropbox. People will get increasingly wary of personal data online.5) It's not easy to see the status of files, which ones are done? Who knows.5) They have no India presence, it costs 1.5x here. They would do good if they did solve for non-tech users. I know tons who would buy a product that delivers on this promise. There's no product in the market.I am hoping they work on the software. Their software engineering lacks UX and innovation. They also don't know how to market products that solve real pain point with a massive market. This is a product to raise funds and capture market first. Imagine how big this becomes as people use lot more data. A Synology market that Google will capture - unfortunately on the cloud because the offline players abdicated their turf.
