Another brilliant volume, loving the character development, and having seen the anime and listened to kessoku Band's albums, I can almost hear the music playing as I'm reading. Can't wait for the next volume 🤟

Volume 4 of Bocchi the Rock! continues the story of Kessoku Band focusing on guitarist Hitori "Bocchi" Gotoh. This volume concludes the Unidentified Riot music story arc as Kessoku tries to make it to the finals by competing against other established bands. Can they make it to the top? This volume continues with the great artwork as seen in previous volumes of this series. One thing that I have enjoyed in this series is how the mangaka does a good job of giving the characters a variety of outfits throughout different scenes (though Hitori herself often sticks to her usual tracksuit). This really helps create distinctive characters. The story in this volume is interesting as well as Kessoku tries to make it big on social media by competing in an online poll to determine contestants in a music competition and then try their hardest to compete. We also get a fun bonus story focusing on rival band SIDEROS. The only criticism I have of this volume is that it felt like there was filler in the story as the band members decide to take breaks. This led to what is essentially a clichéd beach episode. These are fun, but it also distracts from the main story. Overall, I enjoyed this volume. I would recommend this to anyone who is enjoying this series so far.
