These books are beautiful. We all know the story is amazing. If you want a great collectors set, I recommend this.

Great copies! My only feedback is I noticed the font is larger and more comfortable for the Hobbit copy than the rest of the LOTR books, but still okay for reading.

I read the series, watched the movies, and the new show. This was absolutely great to buy for my son who is starting to get into the lore.

Loving the bookset! Received in perfect conditions. Item does not match the main picture but I actually liked what I received instead. Never read any book from start to end in my life until now. The Hobbit is perfect to start off before the fellowship story. This edition includes some nice maps, with some small zoomed areas and a big zoomed out one as well. Paperback and pages are great quality in my opinion.

Came in perfect condition, I did check to make sure that there was not a printing error that others had happen. The design is simple and clean which is nice. I love the map that came with the books too.

These William Morrow editions of the big Tolkien works are beautiful. I won't bother to review the actual stories themselves - if you don't know, you're missing out on some of the greatest literature ever penned.I have several other editions but was happy to see a good deal on a nicely bound hardcover set, so I ordered this one on a whim. I separately ordered The Hobbit and The Silmarillion from this same publisher and they arrived - boxed - in perfect condition. This LOTR set, however, was sent USPS in white bubble wrap packaging, and while they tried to protect the books with 2 layers of said bubble wrap, the top of the spines of two books were marred in transit, along with the back bottom corner of the display box.I'm giving this 4 stars not because USPS just plain sucks as a shipping partner, but because the manufacturer's packaging lends itself to this sort of damage since it's only shrink-wrapped along the visible upper edges of the spines, instead of fully enclosed in a 2-part slip cover of some sort.Short version: These would be a great display set if they arrived with no damage. They're still wonderful and maybe even repairable, so I'm quite happy.
