I bought this set to test it out before gifting one to my niece who is really into art. The convenience of just taking the lid off and painting immediately is unmatched , I would recommend it for anyone who has a young child that likes to paint just for that! However, it is MESSY. The paint has to be stirred and it will overflow into the neighboring cups when doing that. I’ve noticed some cups have more paint than others also, it’s the ones that are actually full that spill over and get everywhere. The colors are great, I think there’s just enough variety to make any color you want very quickly and easily. The paint quality is low for gouache but still good once you figure out which colors are less dense than others etc. overall, what you get for the money is great. I would recommend this on convenience alone.

Most of the paints arrived already separating and needed work before using. Other than that, it’s a nice set.

The first one I received was opened and the paint spilled. Within two days I received a replacement that is in excellent condition . Thank you

I love the way this gouache covers! I like the jelly gouache - was introduced to it in a painting class I took. It is a perfect medium!

***3 MONTH UPDATE*** Dropped to 2 stars: I really love these paints and love how they paint... But, they're literally molding. I've added a picture of the mold. Some of it is fuzzy, most of it is black and spreads all the way down into the paint pod. I've only ever used pure distilled water to moisturize them as needed because they're fully dried out when I go to use them again. It has ruined 16 of my colors, including almost all of the purple shades. I can't afford to replace the full pallette just for those colors so I'll admit this is really disappointing.**ORIGINAL REVIEW**I've been really enjoying this set! I wish there were more shades of green but I'm still massively impressed with the color shades and quality. The case is my favorite part! Setting the palette up was a little hard as many of the paint pods wouldn't peel easily, and that's hard for someone who has trouble with their hands. Otherwise it's well worth the purchase. I didn't notice any weird smells or anything other than your standard paint. They paint vibrantly and it's easy to control the viscosity with water. This palette immediately replaced all of my others. Highly recommend!
