This shaved ice machine arrived nicely packaged with everything you need for operation. Don't forget to buy your favorite liquid flavor concentrate to pour over your shaved ice. While not exactly the home-use shaved ice machine I remember from the 90s, this one gets the job done, as illustrated in my video. This lightweight machine is best when using two hands for stability, but the suction cups on the bottom held it to the countertop well enough, and it is simple enough to operate that I made the video using one hand on the machine. The machine's construction is almost completely plastic, and it is the size of a single-serve coffee maker. I first read the brief instructions and used the two small plastic containers that came with the machine to make two frozen ice pucks. After they were frozen, I determined that the small, nostalgic plastic snow cone that came with the machine would not have enough capacity, so I grabbed my favorite mug. I then realized the machine was versatile and the manufacturer designed it to be used with a cup or mug, as well as the little nostalgic snow cone. I placed a frozen ice puck into the machine, then put the top of the machine in place, and turned it on. As advertised, the mug quickly filled up with powdery shaved ice. It makes about the same amount of noise as a blender, which I completely expected. I especially like that it has a safety switch that stops operation of the machine should you drop the top at the beginning of operation. You'll notice at the beginning of operating the machine, it can wobble a bit. If I were to lose my grip or drop it, the safety switch would trip and disable the machine. Overall, I have enjoyed having this machine, and I used it all summer for snow cones and other beverages. It cleans up easily and is easy to store. I will look forward to using this every summer, I'm sure.

this is the 2nd shave ice machine i bought. the first one was from a different company. while it was a good product this one was on sale and i decided to give it a try. i am so glad i did. the ice is shaved better, it has a reusable cone and 2 ice try’s when ch are sturdier than the first buy. overall, very pleased with it and highly recommend it.

UPDATE: So Nostalgia Customer Service reached out to me and sent me a new one. They also kept the 1 yr warranty for the replacement one they sent me, so if I have any issues with that one, im covered. Im so happy I got a replacement and now the kids I bought it for has enjoyed plenty of sno-cones from this! Thank you Nostalgia. I changed my star rating from 1 to 5 The product is pretty cool. I bought as a gift. When we opened it, there are 3 areas where the bottom piece is chipped. I reached out to the manufacturer because I only want an exchange, and they told me to go through Amazon. I purchased this when it was on sale, so I paid $14 less than it's advertised right now, and I can only get a refund and purchase it again at the higher current price. Again, it's a cute product but the customer service doesnt give many options to make this right. It also doesnt work properly because the top piece keeps falling forward since there's areas that are chipped.

Overall, I'm very happy with this unit, but have two complaints. My first complaint is that the ice made in the included molds doesn't always make good contact with the blade at the bottom, so it will simply just turn around and make a nasty grinding noise, while not outputting any shaved ice. When this occurs, you sometimes have to let the ice "puck" melt a bit more before trying to use it, and/or flip it over. And, the rotating steel disc on the underside of the motor assembly (which turns the ice around) only has tiny, dull metal "tabs" on its underside that are (presumably) meant to hold the ice in place. But, it doesn't always grip very well. Also, since it is "concave," it will always leave behind ~1/2 an ice cube when finished. The ice texture isn't always consistent, either - it sometimes comes out extremely fine and powdery like snow; other times, it comes out in a more thick, "crystal"-like fashion. But, it still made excellent snow cones (although when the ice comes out finer they are more like slushies), and is terriffic for margaritas. I've found if you want the ice to be coarser, it is better to use regular ice cubes (from a tray) instead of the included "puck" molds. If doing this, I tend to have a much better experience. Since it otherwise does what it's supposed to and works pretty well once you get a "feel" for it, I'm not dinging any more stars. The plastic also does seem to be relatively good quality, and isn't super cheap or flimsy feeling - as many appliances like this usually are.

Great product. My 7 year old has been making snow cones for the entire family. Quality ice crusher- not a toy. Ez to use with regular ice cubes.

Amazing little machine must buy

This product showed up broken after trying to explain this to Amazon person that had no idea what I was trying to explain when I said ice crusher the person kept on thinking that it was some kind of hammer breaking ice in a bag did not understand that machine do that. Well, it didn’t work, try to get a refund nightmare never even try to think about buying this product unless it works in front of And the only reason a star is because I want to get out of this. It won’t let you do zero stars, but is underrating total garbage don’t even look at it.

Came extremely quickly and is exactly what is was described

It was nice and quick, easy to use. And easy to clean, but you definitely need to buy flavour syrups and snow cones to go with it 😅. Tried it a couple of times, and it was great. Just wished that I had more flavours to choose from, since locally and due to location I'm limited to few flavours. But totally great to use!
