One of RK's best games; A modified version of "Go"
If you're wondering what this game plays like... it plays like Go. As Onitama is to Chess, this game is to Go.You are basically trying to surround territory so you can claim all the points within, while cutting off your opponent from doing the same and scoring every oasis possible. The good things about this game are: It's similar to Go, which probably the greatest game ever invented. Artwork is lovely. Rules are simple. Gameplay is simple. Scoring is simpler than Go.The bad things about this game are: It's similar to Go, so if you don't like Go, you probably won't like this. There's still a lot of scoring at the end of the game and it's heavily dependent on capturing by surrounding, so...why not just play Go? Rules are simple, but strategy is difficult to grok will you are invested. You are likely to realize halfway through that you've already lost, making the game pointless to continue unless you want to see how badly you lost. Go has the same weakness.Overall: If you enjoy Go but want to modify and obfuscate it a bit to add some randomness and variability with more scoring methods to make it a little less straightforward...well, this is your game.Go is a two player game. You can play this with more people. Give it a try. It's the kind of game that is likely to become a family classic in your household due to deep strategy and replayability. If you only one one RK game, this is not a bad choice. The other I would most recommend is Medici.

A great Knizia game.
Great game! It was very easy to learn, definitely more strategy than rules. It makes this much more replayable, because every time is going to be a different and more challenging experience. The production value on this is great too, with the camels, the color-coded rider pieces and the little trees; it's not overproduced like those big miniature-heavy games, but it's enough that it pops on the table and really looks fun and engaging. I don't know that I'd call this one of Knizia's best games, but it's definitely among his good ones!

Low complexity, high strategy- really fun, well made quality game
My son and I have been playing this game and really enjoy it. It’s a tile placing game with the goal being to extend your camel caravans across the board to claim oases, watering holes, and areas. It’s a turn taking game but each turn goes quickly, as they really consist of just placing 2 camels and claiming anything you can. It’s low complexity (2/5) but high strategy (4/5) from my perspective. There are tons of small pieces which I placed in little clear bins around the board during gameplay. The game does include a lot of small baggies to store pieces in the box afterwards. The pieces are made of plastic and the tiles and board of cardboard. Everything felt good quality and no issues popping tiles out of tbe cardboard for setup.I appreciated the simplicity of the game and how easy it was to learn- the instructions are very clear and without confusion. Highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys casual strategy games!
