Ammunition was founded in 2014 by the songwriting duo Age Sten Nilsen (former WIG WAM singer) and the multi-talented Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse, W.E.T., Nordic Union). The band released the acclaimed debut album "Shanghaied" in 2015 independently. Teaming up with former TNT and Jack In The Box bassist Victor Cito Borge, keysman Lasse Finbråten (Circus Maximus, ex-Wig Wam), skinsman Magnus Ulfstedt (Eclipse), and the exceptional guitar player Jon Pettersen, Ammunition has made a name for themselves as an incredible live act. The first taste of music from this self-titled album was released earlier in 2017. "Wrecking Crew" (written by Nilsen and Mårtensson) landed on the Norwegian charts, taking AMMUNITION to the Norwegian Eurovision grand finale. The full length, original version of the song will be included on the forthcoming album, produced and mixed by the band's guitar player and co-writer, Erik Mårtensson. Musically AMMUNITION are not too far from what was the trademark sound of Wig Wam, yet is a bit rougher and slightly updated but still laden with fine melodies and massive hooks!

Ammuntion proves that great new hard rock still exists
Frontiers Records is saving hard rock music! There is no other hard rock label doing what they are doing. This release from Ammunition is proof of that. This album is perfect - great vocals, great riffs, driving hard rock songswith melody, and amazing production for the cd listener (which is very much appreciated given that compressed streaming consumption could have allowed the band/label to have slacked in the production department). Looking for something new in the hard rock genre, Ammunition is it!!!!

To my excitement I was very happy with this release
I bought this not knowing much about it other than Eric Martensson (Eclipse. W.E.T. etc.) is a member so I took a chance. To my excitement I was very happy with this release, Erik never disappoints! Do yourself a favor and buy this gem!

AMMUNITION Firing with Both Barrels on their Sophomore Release
This album was supposed to be released Sept (2017) but I guess it got held up in production. It would have made my top 5 for sure for the year. I guess AMMUNITION is now officially a band as the album title dropped "Age Sten Nilsen" off the band's name with this sophomore release.Nilsen is one of the most versatile singers working today as he recently released a solo release "Smooth Seas Don't Make Good Sailors" (2017) which is very light in the loafers(pop rock, folk) but he pulls it off. I saw Nilsen belt out live with Tony Carey (Rainbow) a very nice rendition of "TarotWoman". He also has done a respectable Freddy Mercury (Queen) Tribute. I loved Ammunition's last release "Shanghaied " with it's clever tongue and cheek lyrics & infectious grooves, as this release is not quite as lyrically over the top. The CD is only 37 minutes long, as I am not crazy about the couple ballad tracks, but's that's a small complaint overall. If you have not heard the debut, make sure you pick it up as it's 13 track if you get the Japanese release with the excellent bonus track "Access Denied".I liked Nilsen's former band Wig Wam o.k. but with Erik Martensson (ECLIPSE) on board AMMUNITION takes it to another level, with production/song writing. Wrap your ears around "CAVEMAN" it just booms out of the gate. Just like the last album this is a fun, well executed release with big hook songs that are as catchy as H-E- double hockey sticks. Where are you going to see HOT CHICKS in today's HARD ROCK music scene? Not in the states that's for sure. Gather around boys, it does exist in a land far, far, away (Norway). Age Sten Nilsen and Erik Martensson, what else do you need to know!
I have been a huge fan of Age Sten Nilsen since I first heard Wig Wam’s amazing song ‘In My Dreams‘ in 2005 and, following that, the rest of the album, ‘Hard To Be A Rock’n Roller‘, and heard that animated, terrific voice of his belting out those catchy as hell songs. I was hooked right away and I have followed his career closely since that day.I am also, obviously, a huge fan of Erik Martensson, one of our genres premier writers and producers in my opinion, and a man who has been a part of some of the greatest albums melodic rock has seen in the past several years. Most everything the guy touches is gold, and his last album with his band Eclipse captured my number one spot for melodic rock album of the year for 2017.The combination of these two amazing artists is an instant buy for me and joining Nilsen and Martensson on this journey are once again keyboardist Lasse Finbråten (Circus Maximus) and guitarist Jon Peterssen. A line-up change from the first album is present here as gone are bassist Hal Patino and drummer Robban Back and this time around we have Victor Cito Borge (ex-TNT) on bass and Eclipse drummer Magnus Ulfstedt behind the kit. Certainly a group of extremely talented musicians gathered here and one that almost guarantees an amazing record.I am very excited that this album came to fruition as many of these supergroup style releases end up being one off albums and this follow-up to the fantastic 2015 album ‘Shanghaied‘ by Ammunition had a lot to live up to for me as I loved that debut album.Like with most any album Age Sten Nilsen is involved with (save his solo material), it is a mix of melodic rock and glam. It is, like it’s predecessor, very much a Wig Wam sounding album but with some obvious influences from Erik Martensson while also managing to sound different, fresh and new. Both Martensson and Nilsen’s influences can be heard on the album and they do a nice job of blending their styles into one terrific sound with track after track of great music that fans of the first album, or of Age’s work in general, should eat up.You likely have heard at least one of the singles released from the record so far (if not then check the links near the top of the page to do so now) and therefore have a good idea of what you are in for with the album.I will say that if you did not enjoy the first record, or did not enjoy any of the three tracks released early from the record, then you likely will not enjoy the album as it carries that same sound and style throughout the whole album. However, if, like me, you loved the first album and each single from this one then buckle up and get ready for a hell of a fun ride through the minds of Nilsen and Martensson in a record that more than holds it’s own against the debut. From the upbeat album opener of ‘Time‘, the Billy Squire-esque melody of ‘Freedom Finder‘, to the terrific chorus of ‘Tear Your City Down‘ to one of my favorites in ‘Bad Bones‘, this is a fun, high energy record that will have you tapping your fingers along on the steering wheel and singing along in no time. With only two slower, mid tempo tracks, the excellent ‘Eye For An Eye‘ and the only track present that I personally don’t care for, ‘Miss Summertime‘, this is an superb album of great rock ‘n’ roll in my opinion and another big winner for me.A terrific start to the new year, a year that is looking to be another big one for melodic rock fans!Highly recommended.Standout Tracks:‘Freedom Finder‘.‘Gung Ho (I Told You So)‘.‘Eye For An Eye‘.‘Tear Your City Down‘.‘Wrecking Crew‘.‘Bad Bones‘.

One of the best albums of the year!
Before I heard this CD, I had never heard of Age Sten Nilsen, but seeing as I really enjoy most releases on the Frontiers label, I though I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did! The songs are catchy and well-performed, and the production is top-notch. All the instruments are crystal clear in the mix, the vocals are up-front where they should be, and the drums are solid and punchy. "Freedom Finder" has a "We Will Rock You" vibe and is an excellent "crank it up in your car" anthem! "Eye For An Eye" is another highlight. There is not a bad song on the album, actually. Erik Martensson from Eclipse is also a part of this project, which is another reason it's so good! If you like melodic hard rock, this is an album you should definitely have in your collection!

All filler, no killer.
Not much to this album. It's just average as melodic rock goes, and some tunes are even below average. The content and themes of many of the songs are insipid, if not juvenile. For me, the album seems like a compilation of B-sides by a well-known group, i.e., cuts that are not inspiring and might not even be good enough for filler on a regular album.
