I love this product so much! I will try other flavours
Okay, I finally took the plunge into the sourdough world—and I’m so glad I did it with this live sourdough starter. The fact that it comes from a 900+ year-old strain with roots in Wales is just… wild. Like, I’m literally baking with a piece of history. That alone had me hooked.I’m definitely still a beginner when it comes to sourdough, but this starter made it way less intimidating than I expected. It arrived fresh and active—not dehydrated—so I didn’t have to stress about waking it up or hoping it worked. After a simple feeding, it was bubbling and ready to go.I’ve already baked a few loaves with it using both wheat and rye flour, and the results are chef’s kiss. The bread came out with that classic tangy flavor, chewy texture, and a crust that crackles just right. My whole kitchen smelled like an old-school bakery, and honestly, it felt magical. On top of the amazing flavor, I love that sourdough is naturally fermented and packed with nutrients like B-vitamins and iron. It just feels good knowing I’m feeding my family something wholesome and gut-friendly.Whether you’re new to baking or have been doing it for years, I seriously recommend this starter. It’s easy to use, rich in flavor, and has such a cool backstory. If you’ve ever wanted to try baking your own sourdough at home—this is the one to start with.

Gorgeous bread!
Absolutely gorgeous and delicious bread. I've been making my own sourdough for a few years and thought I would try out a few different starters and see if I noticed a difference. I've never used any starter that wasnt my own but I have brought starter from one house to another during a move and definitely noticed they were different. I ordered the starter and noticed that it would be a little while before it arrived and I had a short trip coming up so I ordered it right as I left. Low and behold, it arrived early and our cool spring weather hit one of those weird hot humid spells for 3 days and I was nervous that the starter may have gotten cooked in my mail box. I wanted to give it a go and see. The starter took about a week to wake up and when it did it was some of the most beautiful bubbly texture and gorgeous starter I've ever seen. I definitely plan to buy others to try and I have many different ideas I want to try now.

Great Product
I tried several times to make a sourdough starter and failed! I saw a short on YouTube in which a young lady mentioned telling her sister to just buy (or be gifted) a starter. So I took her advice (that she gave her sister) and bought a starter. I purchased the Einkorn starter, since I use it in our low carb - Keto Friendly - flour mix.It worked perfectly! I feed it with Einkorn only and use with our low carb flour for bread. I haven't quite tweaked the low carb bread recipe, but the starter gives it that sourdough taste and goodness.Note: Our flour is about 1/4 Einkorn flour, so that is why the starter has difficulty making it rise. NOTHING is wrong with the starter...it is perfect. Gluten free breads do not make sourdough like those made with wheat flour. It won't happen. But, I love the bread we end up with and has roughly (depending on how you slice it) <6g carbs per slice.I would definitely recommend buying this starter!Thank you!

Be prepared for the pop.
Just a funny note. As a newbie to sourdough I had no idea 2hat I was really getting. The post office delivered to our street side mailbox and our outside temp was 80+. When I realized the starter was in the mailbox I got my husband to go out and save it. I really thought it would have exploded but it didn’t. I had a bit of difficulty releasing the lid but when it did come off, it exploded. The lid landed in the next room. Scared the s… out of me. Good laugh and the starter was fine. It really smells good and can hardly wait to try my first recipe.

Smells like home
So far it is exactly as described. It's only day two but it had a nearly double rise after one day and smells just like the SF sourdough I miss after moving away. I haven't baked with it yet but so far it's exceeding expectations. Only one problem was that I didn't think I'd ever get the lid off. Even after twisting, running a knife around the edge and even using a jar opener tool I had to use a screwdriver and pry the lid off in pieces.

Wow
I’m not a professional baker at all. I have my own starter but it’s quite slow. Compared to this 900year old beast it’s dead lol.I fed it as soon as I got it and it tripled in 4 hours. I discarded and fed again next day and it tripled again and I couldn’t wait. It made the most delicious bread!!!!!! Then I fed it again, put some in the fridge and it tripled over the night! This starter is the bomb!

Eh.....
It arrived later than expected. It looked like it exploded but I managed to salvage a small amount out of the bottom of the plastic container. It's starter and it may be 75 years old but I don't find it any better than my own starter I make using einkorn flour. I would not recommend this personally, but the price is cheap and you really aren't wasting much if you just want to order it and see what it's like. I give it four stars because it arrived in bad condition. And it has made decent sourdough loaves.

Tastes great and easy to revive
After hurricane Milton my starter died because we evacuated the state and I couldn't feed it. I know what you're saying, why not just refrigerate it? Well I did but we lost power for a week, so sadly everything in the refrigerator went to the trash because it was unsafe to eat. After trying and failing miserably multiple times to make my own starter I bit the bullet and bought one. I was wary of buying one off amazon but the reviews were promising so I figured it was cheap enough to risk it for the sourdough biscuit and I am so glad I did! This starter comes with clear and easy to follow instructions and within 2 days I had an active starter. The taste is incredible and not overly funky, and the texture is smooth and easy to incorporate. Great starter for any baker- especially one like myself who can't make a starter to save her life but can make a mean loaf!
