Grandfather's Journal

IN SHORT: if you have young children, hurry up and buy the grandfather/grandmother notebooks! I realized that I didn't know much about my parent's lives as much as I'd like. They always talked to me from a parent to their child, but never truly as they would talk with a close friend. I bought a blank notebook for my father's Christmas few years back, asking him to write down anything he'd like to share with me, stories about his childhood, his first love, his first hungover, how he met my mother, etc. Sure enough, he never wrote in the book. My first born is going to turn 2, and I really wanted to get this information from my parents, so I could share with my children, but also for myself. It turns out, giving an empty notebook was too intimidating for someone who never writes. This is why I love these ones, they are GUIDED. Structure helped my dad write down. I love the illustration, the various categories and the questions being asked.

This book is thoughtfully put together with beautiful writing prompts. The pages are thick but not heavy and glossy but not shiny. I knew that Dad would be more receptive to this if my son gifted it to him for Father's Day. My Dad opened this and said "Message Received"! He flipped through it and said "There isn't enough room for all my stories, so I'll be adding lots of paper." My Dad is a big storyteller, so I'm eager to see what stories he chooses to include in this book. In fact, following this gift, he told me about how my Great Uncle was a part of the Proctor Crew 384 in WWII. I know that this will be just a part of what he includes in this book. I think he was happy with this gift and I'm glad we got it for him. This will be a wonderful keepsake for all of his children and grandchildren.

Bought this in the Grandmother and Grandfather versions. These are wonderful books to fill out for your grandchildren. They are very detailed and take a while to finish. They make wonderful gifts for a baby shower. Had several people ask where to get them.

Fantastic quality! I was so pleased with how well put together this precious book is. I purchased this one and the Grandmother’s version for another/Father’s day gifts. It really made both of the in-law’s day! I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who would cherish these memories. My FIL asked me, “what if I don’t know the answer?” And my precious husband says, “that’s the fun part, Dad! You get to remix the story!” We laughed until we cried after dinner that night. Needless to say, it created a truly special moment for them and will allow them to reflect on their lives so that they can pass their knowledge forward to generations to come.

What a phenomenal way to always have the exact stories from your father and your childrens grandfather.. just another way to learn the story of your family and connect with each other. Beautiful!

Grandpa loved it and it helps bring us all together to write in it and relive the good memories

This is a good book to pass on to grandkids. It will be appreciated. I got it for my husband for his birthday. He’s enjoyed filling it out. Lots of companies make this type of thing but this one is less expensive but still good quality. Only issue is that it should be for all the grandkids and not just directed to one. Who knows who’ll want it.

I love that this book is in a large format with room for the prompts and questions to actually be answered. I also love that there is s matching book for grandmothers; I bought both as Christmas gifts this year from my son. There are questions that I can’t wait to know the answers to that I never would have thought to ask... I’m so grateful that my son and other future generations will have access to pieces of our history that will now be able to live on long after we have passed.

Bought this for my father as he's a sentimental sausage and loves stuff like this. Some things will have to be worked around eg, the school years as it's an American book but that's easily done. Lovely product!
