What goes in, must come out
Amazon classifies the 5-star rating as "I love it" and for me it is more of love at first sight as I have yet to put the product through its paces. However, from what I have seen of it so far, it certainly does what's expected. It requires just a USB to Micro USB cable to operate which makes it a treat to use. It comes bundled with an useful bunch of software (Epson Scan, Scan to PDF, Document Capture Pro, and ArcSoft Scan-n-Stitch Deluxe) which should come in handy when dealing with various types of documents. I have only used Epson Scan till date in auto mode with few analog photos from the 80s & some documents and the scan quality is simply awesome at 4800 dpi. The scanner can be vertically or horizontally oriented though I always prefer to have it flat as it makes it more convenient to use. The scanning speed is not breath-taking but certainly good enough for home usage, especially at such high resolutions. The one missing feature is "negative scanning" which comes at a higher price for it is certainly quite a niche feature. Unless you have a bunch of undeveloped photographs, this feature isn't an essential one. All in all, a great budget pick over its closest competition from Canon (LiDE 120).

Good Boy.
The Epson Perfection is a cool scanner in the given price range, it gives out crisp images on auto mode as well which I found to be pretty amazing but the user interface is boring...Canon is a sure shot winner over there...My exp is based on Mac ..so can't say about Windows One thing which I found to be peculiar was that on auto mode it scans 2 times before presenting the scanned image. Whereas if you select the professional mode and select image dpi to be on a higher side (by default its 300) lets say 600 dpi or 1200 dpi ( 4800 is the highest I suppose) the scan is done only once and the image isn't that fine. (Just an observation). Perhaps in normal usage you wont require such high dpi's on top of it if you wish for achieving amazing results on such high dpi's then in that case you need to come up with a heavier pocket and look for high end scanners. I have used Canon Lide as well, its also a gem of a thing but this time round I thought of giving a chance to epson. One thing which one cant miss to mention is that its considerably small and light, has an inbuilt stand and has OCR capabilities (havn't dig deep enough to give a review on that) which is good and this is what Canon lacks If only Epson can bring a more refreshed user interface, have a guide mode and deliver much cleaner results even on high dpi's then nothing shall stop this in becoming a Five Star piece. I don't know man... just made my first review on amazon ....I think for the most helpful reviews amazon should provide some kind of incentive or bonus or even a token of appreciation.

Never Buy this product
This Scanner is waste of buying. I brought this product a year back. While buying this scanner, it gave me good scanning experience. But after just a month later, the scanner connectivity bus got struck up. I took the scanner to Epson service center (The nearby service center is 250 kms far from my locality). They took 3 weeks of time to sort out the issue. Even after servicing, within 15 days again its got struck up & i got irritated & raised concern to Epson team. That also helpless. Please dont buy think to buy scanner.

Epson Perfection V39 Scanner - Review
Good Scanner, easy to Use, portable and it is value for money. it can Scan Color as well as Black and White and Only A4 size and Below and it cannot Scan A3 Size Paper. Note : While Scanning always allow the Scan to get complete before you Click on any Tab from Software or else the scanning image will get Corrupted and if it happens then Simply disconnect the Scanner then Scan a New Page will lower DPI & then you can raise the DPI again & continue to Scan. Always allow the Noise from the Scanner to get Completely Stopped First while Scanning any Current page OR New page.

Portable scanner for home use
I have used this scanner for scanning documents and photos of various sizes using a PC and Mac, perhaps now about a dozen times. The scanner has been easy to install and use. I used the CD that came with it only in the PC. With the Mac I could use it as soon as I connected it via USB. The results are good and once can choose scan resolution as needed within the limits of the specifications. I like the fact that the scanner itself needn't be plugged in to the wall. This makes it very portable as one can move it around with a laptop with ease. I highly recommend it for home use. I do take a good care of it by keeping it in a drawer away from direct sunlight and dust when not in use. I am hoping that with proper care this scanner will serve well for a long time. Look out for a sale as it goes on deep discount from time to time. I received the scanner in excellent condition from the seller and in a timely manner.

Not good for old black and white photos
Overall I would really recommend this scanner. I have scanned close to 1000 photos so far and quality is as expected. Pros: 1. Better than expected scan quality. Even small photos scanned are good in my 32 inch monitor. 2. Photo scan app is really good to use. You can scan multiple photos at once and finally click save to folder. Cons 1. If you are scanning old pictures (black and white or polaroid ones), it has little difficulty in identifying the exact picture border due to less color. So try multiple option in professional mode to get better one. 2. There is no clear option in Photo scan app once I save all photos. So have to close and reopen again.

Good Scanner for Home from Epson - Recommended
I had been using an HP all in print-scan-copy for last 6 to 7 years. Last year replaced it with Epson Ink tank printer. I bought Epson V39 last week. Packaging and shipping was top notch. Installation on Windows 10 was easy. I was up and running with scanner within 10 minutes. I used variety of documents - color, black and white, color photos, Copy and Print( needs to be installed separately), results were very good. Scanning speed is quite decent, was able to get good results all the time. Highly recommended for home use definitely, light weight and works directly with USB connection, no extra power connection. Good product from Epson
