When I initially bought the dreo room humidifier it was mentioned that I could use a demineralization cartridge or a clean air one because I have soft water I went with the clean Air filter when I initially got the unit it had like a little lid {see pix} where the cartridges pops in the place it actually works better without these in my own opinion...My water is different I have soft water my room's different probably than most people I do recommend that you get these for safe measure but I don't know why you would want to sell a demineralization cartridge if it blows out white powder according to what others have said in their reviews that it blows white dust everywhere that did not happen to me because I did not pick the demineralization oneI couldn't make no sense of it so I called the actual company but I purchased them off Amazon three days of using the filter my machine had orange gunk in it prior to that I could run it for days with no gunk using regular soft tap water & no filter now I don't know if I wasted my money or if I'm best just to put the little cap that it came with back on after I going to give these filters a second chance after a full clean of the unit because if it's a filter mold got to it quick...For me it ran better with jus the little cap that came with it you don't have to clean these cartridges but on the initial install I was told by the company when I registered with them to make sure you rinse them well before you put them in your machineSo the ease of cleaning those was pretty easy the fit went very well jus pops in the unit itself is top shelf quality I run mine on level 3 to get the most of the humidity due to my lung issues it makes the temperature of my room a little bit cooler & much easier to breathe with lung conditions the humidity level the smart part of the machine the base unit lets me know by digital readout how the humidity level is fairing make sure to read the directions at the moment I can't tell you how long these filters last but I do remember it was a good amount of time I don't think I will buy these anymore I will come back to update if the orange mold keeps showing up then I may not use these ever again and just use the cap...I was cleaning it ever 3 days as it runs nonstop in my room so I don't know if these are good idea or not many consumers has stated in reviews on the unit that one cartridge of certain flavor/demineralization will put white residue all over the area my experience with these filters is after 3 days I had to tear it down which is no easy task & clean out the gunk so I'm not breathing that orange mold let alone the ick but if you have hard water it speaks & acts different as in said above 3 for $18 is not bad it's the same price thru dreo or dreo store on Amazon

Bought this as recommended by Dreo to give extra life to my humidifier and better filter the hard water. Seems to work well for the money. It helps with the water quality. I can tell a difference with the air quality.

I bought these to supplement the Dreo Smart Humidifier, 6L Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier that I own. Cool vapor humidifiers when filled with 'hard water' (has a lot of dissolved minerals in it) can put out white, mineralized dust with the water vapor that may irritate some people's lungs, and coats nearby objects. They also are utilized to reduce the amount of contaminant buildup in the humidifier, making for less frequent and easier cleaningThese Dreo Clean Mist Cartridges are designed to capture contaminates and remove the excess minerals prior to the vapor being expelled from the humidifier, thereby mitigating, or eliminating the white dust. The water in my home is somewhere between soft and hard water, so these cartridges are my insurance to make sure no white dust emerges.I've run the unit for two weeks with a cartridge installed and no white dust.

These filters work well for me. The silver ions reduce, to a large extent, the pink funk that grows in the unit, which is my primary concern. But, no…they do NOT take all of the minerals or TDS (total dissolved solids) out of the water. They are not designed for that. For example, they cannot take arsenic, which will result in “white dust” falling everywhere. Most water supplies are high in arsenic. Only reverse osmosis, or using distilled water will take all of the TDS out of the water. It is sad that the seller says it will eliminate the white dust, because that’s impossible with such a set up. These filters will remove calcium and magnesium, only. They work as designed, but not beyond that.The alternative is to use an evaporative humidifier, in which case all TDS will remain in the filter of the unit, which has to be changed periodically. For now, I’ll stick with they Dreo system.

Living in Arizona almost requires you to have a humidifier in the home.However, it’s very tiresome constantly having to use distilled water or filtered water in order to avoid the hard water minerals that are prevalent in Arizona from being dissipated into the air.It’s been about three weeks of running these cartridges in my humidifiers and there is virtually no hard water or calcium in the tank and I’m finding myself having to clean the tank a lot less frequently.I would highly recommend getting these cartridges for your humidifier for ease of use in maintaining the equipment and air quality.
