The best one , no problem to connect and is waterproof

I have two of these drives now and also two of the 1TB drives. I find them to be fast and reliable, not sure about the shock resistant claims as I haven't ever dropped them to test it and don't intend to either. I can say I often carry the drives in backpacks that do get manhandled, bumped and knocked about and feel safe knowing they are relatively robust hard drive ( not quiet a drop test but good enough for me ) I haven't had any issues with this drive and intend to purchase another one soon, the only thing I would say is to be careful with the USB 3 lead, it is a little flimsy and likely to break off in the drives port if transported connected in.

Brought for our son who has a medical condition casing him to drop things. He needed some extra memory and after a trawl round the internet I came upon the Transcend 2TB 2.5 inch USB 3.0 StoreJet Military Grade Shock Resistance Portable External Hard Drive. The USB 3.0 is great as it provides significant data transfer rates. If the drive is connected via a USB 2 connection then a second connection is also required. To check which USB connection you have look in the laptop/desktop sockets, if they are blue you have USB 3 otherwise its USB 2. I can't say that the shock Resistance works but it does seem rugged and the anti slip casing gives a really good grip. Storage is massive at 2GB and for the price is really excellent. My 1TB hard drive is nearly full and I will certainly be buying another of these in the future.

Ive been used to using 2 hard-drives per year for storing photographs, but this time I decided tom invest in a 4tb hard-drive. Took a bit of setting up as I had formatted it on my windows computer and had been using it for a short while, but then it wouldn't load up on my Mac book pro. Definitely a blonde moment for me, but I then read that I had tom format for both types of devices. Solution found and was up and running in no time and it has been brilliant to use ever since. I am known for letting things slip through my hands as I have fibromyalgia so it was better to have a more secure casing to eliminate serious damage. This item is definitely strong and sturdy and will definitely be buying it again when this one is nearly full up.

I was looking for a high capacity USB3 drive and already have one of the older Transcend StoreJet (500Gb) drives, so thought I'd give this one a go. My older drive (purchased in 2011, I think) is still going strong and I've never had any problems with it. After placing the order, I noticed that the WD Elements equivalent (2TB) drive was 17GBP cheaper. I figured I'd go ahead and order the WD drive too, and return the Transcend drive to Amazon after it arrived. So, why am I leaving a review of a drive I presumably returned? Well, having the two drives side-by-side, I chose to keep the Transcend and send the WD drive back instead. The WD drive is very neat. It's pretty much a square and is smaller than the Transcend drive but a little thicker. The WD's housing is nice enough to look at but feels very plasticky and rigid. It has 4 small, rubber feet on the bottom but really feels like it wouldn't handle bumps and knocks very well and there's not very much grip on the casing. Straight away, I felt that I'd be forced to handle it with much more care than the Transcend (more on that in a minute) and be worried about it slipping out of my hand whilst carrying it to and from the machine it was purchased to act as a backup for (and I didn't want to have to end up buying a soft case for it). I can't attest to build quality, reliability or anything like that, as I've literally only had both drives for a couple of days. They both connect without any problems, both write at roughly the same speed in some tests I did (about 26-27MBps on USB2), both are formatted to NTFS (although oddly enough, I seem to remember the WD Elements 2TB drive actually showing up with very slightly more free space than the Transcend...maybe the cluster size is different. Anyway... I'd not even opened the Transcend drive and was midway through boxing it up and processing the return when I figured I could at least just open it. As soon as I had it in my hand, I knew that I'd be keeping this drive instead of the WD Elements. The StoreJet has a really nice rubber casing and although it's physically a bit bigger than the WD Elements, it feels like it would physically be more sturdy and the grip provided by the rubber casing means that you won't constantly be worrying about dropping it. Interestingly enough, the Transcend drive's packaging doesn't appear to offer as much protection as the WD's packaging...that could tell you something about how delicate WD seem to think their drive might be. Also, the Transcend comes with a 3yr (albeit "limited") warranty, over the WD Element's 2yr. They both come with software that most of us won't even use (although the version of WD's backup software is only a 30-day trial, whereas, Transcend's software seems to be fully functional) and both come with short USB3 cables. I prefer the cable that comes with the WD drive; it's longer and thinner (therefore, more flexible). I don't doubt that the WD Elements drive is excellent, I just preferred the Transcend and think the extras (seemingly better protection, longer warranty, etc.) were worth the slightly extra price. I'll update this review in the coming months if I have any problems with it - if you're reading this and don't see an *** UPDATE ***, assume it's still going strong. :-)

Dear Seller / Amazon. As you can imagine people buy from you as they expect a quick service and the end of the day they want to use the product they have purchased. Your Transcend HDD arrived swiftly and until 5 minutes ago I was happy. Not any more. The HDD does not work. Why? Becuase.... The SJ25H3 gets its power directly from your computer's USB port. However, the power supplied by the USB ports on some older computers does not meet the stable 5V DC power requirements of the SH25H3. If your StoreJet does not function properly upon connecting it to your computer, please plug BOTH ENDS of the USB 3.0 Y-cable into your computer. Really? I have a pretty new PC with an enormous 1000 Watt PSU. Enough to run 10 TVs If I wanted. But no, the HDD on 5V and probably needing 5-10 watts does not work trough a regular USB cable. Now I need to buy a Y Usb 3.0 cable that has 3 ends from which two needs to be connected to the PC and one to the HDD. Great. Which is even better, now I can carry my precious Y USB 3 cable everywhere as poeple do not have this types of cables in offices or at home. I would advise, A) either sell a product that does work with regular equipment that people normally have at home / offices, or B) if your product needs a special equipment to function, either warn buyers (don't mislead them) and supply the necessary part. I needed the HDD today, not tomorrow and not after I made an unnecessary time wasting trip to the local PC store. If I could I would give Zero star as I regard this type of "doing something but not doing anything at the end" mentality far worse than selling honest crap. UPDATE!!!! I have been to Currys, PC World, Maplin. Neither of them selling Y USB 3.0 cables. I have ordered one trough Amazon, so I now have it. And then what? The brand new HDD does not work with the Y cable either. My 5 years old 40Gb Hard drive have no problem, the brand new Transcend HDD is broken on delivery. Congratulation Amazon. You have got a return and a lost loyal customer.
