DVR/VCR
This is the exact same one that I have had that finally stopped working after 25 years. I flipped when I found this on Amazon, I was surprised that I found the same one. It works great plays dvds and vhs tapes perfectly.

Move VHS to DVD
If you want to move old VHS tapes to DVDs, this unit does it very well. Once converted to DVD, the quality is equal or better to the VHS it came from. The labeling, creating menus, and editing features are average at best, but once on DVD it is easy to move to your PC for editing and re-authoring. If all you really care about is moving the "content" from VHS to DVD. Get this unit.

Waste of time and money $ :-(
Bought this for my father. His birthday is tomorrow. He has about 400+ VHS tapes he's been wanting to convert. We set it up yesterday and it was a total disaster. The remote works to play but we only found that after several batteries because the remote DOES NOT work to turn the player on and off. It wouldnt play any videos burned on DVDs Took a long load commercial DVDs. Waiting for it to load reminded of the days of dial up internet service. We gave up after 2 minutes. One video finally showed a menu but when you click "play" on the machine or remote, it doesn't. The VHS side doesnt seem to work either. Very disappointed this was promoted as refurbished. Clearly, noone checked this machine. Returning it and desperately searching for a new gift for Dad. :-(

Use the tapes to tape movies, or programs like AGT, DWTS
I made DVD from VHS movies and I really like. I read the manual the night before and I misplaced it. Trial by error and I managed to operate the machine to record the DVD's from the VHS. I really like the machine. Maybe I can order the manual.

very satisfied
I just purchased this item and haven't had a chance to use all of the features. I bought it mainly to copy my old vhs tapes to Dvd. I've called panasonic for technical help which was outstanding. I didn't know you can copy short vhs recordings that you may have from an old camcorder to the same Dvd and I have already done this and it has come out great. The DVD knows where to pick up the spare space on any DVD until you get near filling the DVD and you can title each new entry onto the same DVD. It also has timed recording either to VHS or DVD. I highly recommend this product. Frank Nielsen

My wife is pleased with the unit's performance
My wife is pleased with the unit's performance. She uses it on a daily basics. However there is a bad association with the handling of the payment for the unit.It is suspected that a leak occurred during the payment process that allowed my credit card information to be fraudulently used outside of the channels for a number of hotel and other charges to appear on my statement after this account was credited to my statement. This is currently under investigation. Time will tell. I will no longer be using this area for purchases. Do you have any response?

Couldnt make it go for long
Hookup was a breeze.. I used a Cable splitter so I could bypass the unit when watching TV - My Sony TV has a better tuner. The unit played well with a fantastic picture with both VHS and a phenominal DVD image.. near HD on my regual set. It recorded well with only a slight loss in quality to bot DVD and VHS. The manual was a little confusing since there is So Much gadgetry this thing can do..I sat down to read it until I understood what it said FIRST, before getting frustrated. Once I had that down it's a very sweet unit for the price. HOWEVER, and thats a big HOWEVER - First try at transferring vhs to DVD TOASTED the laser and I had to return it for exchange. It was very nice of Panasonic to put in a error message that said " U61(power interupted) Self check failed, refer to service" Thats the best thing when a unit quits..a message that states don't even bother to fiddle with it.
