THIS TACHOMETER WORKS REALLY WELL.. ALL U HAVE TO DO IS GET ITS SENSOR WIRE CLOSE TO THE SPARK PLUG WIRE & IT DOES ITS THING :)

Put a battery charger type clip on the end, much easier than wrapping the wire. Mine reads erratically, the rpm jumping around all over the place, but I think that is the fault of the magneto ignition because a timing light with tach gave the same erratic readings. Now if only it were to average out the reading ...

Item was bought so I could check rpm on small engines that I buy of facebook marketplace. It is quick to attach and shows rpm as soon as engine is started watch your rpm as you make your adjustment. It a great tool.

Used to have one just like it that worked fine… had others that were better, but required batteries and always seemed to need a new battery when I needed it. Realized I didn’t have a digital tachometer and had some motorcycle carburetors to dial in after stripping down for cleaning and reassembling. Ordered this one since it does not require batteries and had good experience with a similar-looking version in the past. This one had a substantial lag in the readings vs real engine speed right out of the box but I was still willing to work with it for the price. Second day of using it (four days after delivery) the engine speed reading dropped to half while in use. Looks like the setting changed to a “one spark per revolution” (two stroke motor) RPM reading while in use for 20 minutes. Had it set for a four-stroke RPM reading when I first started using it and tried changing it back when the reading suddenly changed, but it continued to do the same. I found if I held the “S1” button while in use, it would show me the “four stroke” engine speed as it did before (and as I had set it originally) although the reading seemed very erratic now for a fairly stable idle. Decided not to continue adjusting anything with zero confidence in the tach reading. Between the lag in readings and now having to hold the button to see the RPM readout set as I intended… decided it is not worth the cheap price. I’d rather pay more for something that actually works decently after an hour. Returning… might work fine as an hour meter, but I do not recommend for use as a tachometer.

I have not actually hooked this up yet because it is out of mowing season however it arrived package undamaged and it seems to be a quality build I have no doubt that this unit is good

I have started using these on some of my equipment, mowers, pressure washers. You get so engrossed in using these tools that your don't realize how many hours are on the machines. I prefer the models with replaceable batteries.

Pretty neat little tachometer/hour meter easy to install easy to read even in bright sunlight and appears to be pretty accurate especially for the price. Works perfect for tuning carburetor
