Yes, yes absolutely yes!
Are you here to do deeds or run from them? At first I was a little disappointed in this book but the further I read the better it all came together. Well researched, feminine strength, engaging and lead me to more Baba Yaga mythos. Highly suggested. I bought a copy for my best friend as well.

Becoming
This is a good read if you're looking for more backstory to Baba Yaga. There are so many stories in here and each with it's own lesson. Lots of cautionary tales and lots of cleverness revealed in the people who Baba Yaga attempts to steal away with. But it gives you a feel for one of the oldest and most frightening of deities. Definitely worth reading. And having in your own library.

Phenomenal insights to a complex character
Kris Spisak's research takes the reader to a variety of scholarly insights while her storytelling reels them right into Baba Yaga's tales. Those just beginning to learn about the myriad of roles Baba Yaga plays over the eons will find this book to be the start of more questions than answers. Those who have been sharing her tales and relying on her wisdom will delight in having "proof" (if such a thing can be had) that Baba Yaga indeed exists in everything liminal and wild about us.I loved every bit of Becoming Baba Yaga and having read it on Kindle, find it to be a must-have for my print library next.

Entertaining and informative read.
Who knew that a Baba Yaga has so many facets to her personality, both wise and wicked. This book is fascinating, informative, and well written. The voice of the author makes each story captivating and entertaining. I strongly recommend this book.

Mostly Author Rambling - Not Enough of the Stories
Very disappointing. I was hoping for more Baba Yaga stories that were more detailed. The stories were very short and the author commentary was way too long. Her analysis and discussion of any given story could have been contained to 2 - 3 pages, not 10 - 15 pages.

I got it for a friend and she loved it. I don’t think we have enough stories about Baba Yaga , so this was great.

Becoming a Modern Day Baba Yaga
I truly enjoyed this book. The author really researched the lore of Baba Yaga and offered many perspectives of her association with feminism that I had not considered. She showed how a leaning towards the demonizing of Baga Yaga (read: strong woman) coincided with the rise of Christianity and the patriarchy. All women carry aspects of this archetypal witch within and should be proud.
