DraytekVigorAP 906 WiFi 6 AX3000 Access Point, Range Extender, Mesh, 2x2 Dual Band, 5 x LAN Port Switch, POE

I have acquired 5 of these. I returned 2 of them as 1 appeared to have a power issue and the other had an issue with being configured and going back to the login page without accepting changes.TLDR: If you have a problem configuring one of these, try a different browser.NetXL were very good and helpful and issued RMA numbers without a fuss. Both units were returned as no fault found by Draytek and, to be fair, they were almost right. The one with power issues was now fine and the one with the config issue still had the problem. I reported this to NetXL and sent them a screen recording to show what was going on and they suggested using a different browser. This worked; very strange.I now have all 5 co-operating in a Mesh network and working very well. The signal strength is good, the speed is good and I'm quite happy.

Bought to replace a probably antique AP700. It’s not a small box and the antennas don’t seem to be replaceable with a higher gain version but to be fair it doesn’t need them.As I now have an EV smart charge point outside, WiFi connectivity is key. Controlling the charge point is done over WiFi and maintaining a signal lock key to this. The AP700 struggled but the AP906 works absolutely fine.This access point is highly configurable and designed for office use so contains a huge range of connectivity controls, most of which a domestic user will never need. I’ve used Draytek for more than 20 years now and their products are very good. Support is also excellent.We’ll worth the investment.

Bigger than I was expecting, compared to the previous Draytek APs I've had.Also, and this is very important, it seems to be only compatible in mesh mode with other AP 906s. I bought it to replace an AP 802 and to work with an AP 903 (mesh root) and AP 802 (other mesh node). It doesn't, it wil work in AP mode, but I bought it for mesh.It isn't obvious that it is incompatible. There is a compatibility table on the Draytek website but it's unintelligeable on a phone, but makes sense on a computer.Setup as usual not as seamless as other brands but am happy that its secure and reliable once set up.Still really annoyed that it won't work in mesh mode with my existing Draytek APs - I could have bought something much cheaper to run as just another access point.

I purchased this access point to set up as a mesh extender to add to my Draytek router. After following the installation guide I was unable to get it to work and ended up phoning Draytek support. The person clearly knew the product well and guided me though the process to get the installation completed successfully. However, I couldn't help feeling that she was disinterested in helping and thought me incompetent. I am an IT engineer and, though I am not familiar with the AP906, I have worked with Draytek products before. They are generally solid and reliable. I am sure this will be too but they really need to revisit the installation guide if they wish to gain traction in the marketplace.

Easy set up and uisual draytek quality. However one real issue. The AP906 will not work with any other device currently for a mesh network If you are hoping to connect it to an existing mesh or setting up a new one it won’t work with other draytek devices, this is not clearly documented anywhere and I have learnt the hard way, have had to set up other devices as AP’s and not a mesh.
