this kit is compact and easy to use. i have never used a flint before in my life and i was able to light it up on my first try! thanks for the awesome product!

The fire steel works great for the size. The striker is small but normally I use my knife so this wasn’t an issue. The tine is useful and comes with a band to keep it closed. The tin has space if you need to put a back up lighter for when you are out. The fire rope is good quality and lights right up with no issue.

The tin is cool and the hemp candle, but the ergonomic-looking ferro striker that looks hefty with is really a thin piece of stamped metal. The kit’s price felt worth it for the striker, now I wish I would have bought the help-only tin. The pyramid kindling is cute, but not a novelty I care about.

This product is obviously expensive but you get exactly what you see in the photos and video, so my view is you can't downgrade your review because of the high cost. And I am not. However... The first one I got had damage to two pieces of the "kindling"and a scraped-up, dented lid. The kit was rattling around in the box, unsecured, and my immediate thought was "These folks should package this better!" Literally wrapping a small piece of bubble wrap around it before placing it in the box would have avoided most of the damage. I myself sell goods and services, and I understand how things work, so I always allow for a seller to make something right. Because business - and life - is challenging. I requested a replacement, and got it quickly, and will return the first damaged item this week. But... The replacement also has damage to the top piece of the "kindling" and the piece that is broken off is missing completely so this happened prior to shipping. The tin is dented too, because again the item was not wrapped or secured. I am not going to return the second item because I don't have time, but it is very disappointing, especially because it is a gift and I will need to apologize for the damage. So now I am leaving this review, although I do not like doing it. It could easily be 5 stars. The product, though pricey, is cool! Amazon, please fix your packaging issue with this item. It wouldn't take much.
