Dissapointed yet again, and misled.
I like Lon, but this is his third main tarot book and I'm disappointed for a third time. It's an expansion on his previous book about his tarot deck Tarot of Ceremonial Magick, which I was disappointed with also, all those years ago when the first edition (there's a 3rd now) came out. For many it'll be a good book, but for some, like me, it might not. It's specifically refers to his own deck. It includes the Liber 231 spirits, which many people may not be interested in. It includes the 72 spirits of the Ars Goetia as linked to the decans as in Liber 777, but these spirits were collected from diverse alternative hierarchies prior to being listed in the Ars Goetia do have nothing to do with the decans. Like most books out there, it relies on the colour scales, double letter to planet attributions, tree of life path attributions, and path intelligence attributions of the Golden Dawn. But there are alternatives out there to all these. The blurb seemed to indicate that it would be applicable to tarot cards, not just Lon's deck. There may be some useful 8deas in it, and some techniques, but it's not Universal in its scope. :(

It’s OK but I ordered a new book. Please be careful when…

Another DuQuette masterpiece; he never disappoints. Excellent for all those who use or wish to use the Tarot, from beginner to old hand (no pun intended but welcomed).

My new favorite book on Tarot, I am recommending this to new students and seasoned practitioners. Lon Milo Duquette has managed to excel in both the academic/intellectual AND the practical/hands on methods of teaching. Packed with information on card meanings, associations, correspondences and how the system relates with and enhances alchemical spiritual enlightenment and various other systems of divination and ceremonial Magick. In addition to growing your knowledge of Kabbalah, the I Ching, Enochian and Solomonic Magick to name a few. Every section has practical exercises and meditations for you to integrate this knowledge and raise your wisdom and understanding. All of this in plain English, sprinkled with humor, making the whole package refreshingly entertaining, accessible and joyful. By the end (using downloadable pdf), you will have made a cube of space and colorized and enhanced your own full Tarot Deck (amongst other hands on learning exercises. Take your time over this book, enjoy integrating the knowledge, and build your own temple of cards inside and out.
