Brilliant book. Ignore the review by Miss Trunchball
I loved Dr Julie’s previous book and “Open When” does not disappoint as a follow up. It’s truly brilliant. I started on the chapter “when you want to win the argument” and it was so relevant and I found it truly helpful and inspiring. I’m going to try out the techniques and suggestions. I feel there are many chapters in this book that will prove invaluable to me and I can’t wait to explore more. What Julie does is make therapy accessible for everyone. Trust me, I’ve had many rounds of counselling and it costs a fortune. I wish I had just bought this book instead because I would have gained the same insights quicker and ever so much cheaper.Ps. Ignore the review by Miss Trunchball. Clearly a complete troll!

Beautifully written!
Dr Julie writes beautifully with a real psychological insight into what troubles our minds and the "try this" tasks are wonderful tools! You can use it as an "Open when..." Or just read it (I have) I love reading her book in her voice (I follow on Instagram and her little insights on there can be so uplifting and motivating and sometimes eye opening) I'm sure I'll keep nipping to this like her first book to read/hear a simple insightful friendly verse. My 12 year old also is a fan!

An amazing life tool for everyone
I pre ordered this book after reading dr Julie’s previous book.As someone who struggles being the “glue” of the family, being the middle child, aging parents, adult children of my own, busy Job, generally juggling a lot of balls, I honestly didn’t know what chapter to read first. I feel like I’ve gained a new best friend with this book. I immediately have the urge to buy copies for my children and many of my friends. Some really down to earth, practical, invaluable life advice for when life throws those curve balls. Definitely going to be my go to, when I feel I need help to navigate through life. Thankyou dr Julie, for the encouragement to tackle some of the situations life throws at you in a proactive way, whilst also making me realise that these life situations happen to everyone.

A good read for the start of the year.
Dr. Judy Smith’s new book really hit home for me. I found the sections on self-sabotage and toxic behavior particularly helpful. I have to admit, reading about toxic traits made me realize that, at times, I’ve been guilty of some myself, especially when it came to pushing someone away. That was tough to accept, But recognizing that truth is part of what makes this book so impactful. What I like most about it is that it does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s not trying to be some deep, heavy psychological textbook, it’s about helping you spot the issues you’re dealing with and giving you tools to work on them. The tools aren’t generic, either. Dr. Smith acknowledges that we’re all different, like snowflakes, and what works for one person might not work for another. That makes her advice feel personal and practical. This book came into my life at a time when I’ve been questioning a lot of decisions I’ve made, actions I’ve taken, and even the actions of others. It doesn’t promise to fix everything, but it gives you the space and encouragement to start working through things. It also forces you to face some uncomfortable truths.Growth doesn’t happen without discomfort, and while there are still things I need to deal with in my own life, this book has been a nice push in the right direction.@tiroas on the inter
