Tete de Moine

Tete de Moine (translates as 'Monks Head') is a flavorful, pungent cheese. It is made in monastery located in French speaking Switzerland. The cheese is best served shaved very thin, preferably using a specialty cheese curler. The curler allows for cheese shaving to accumulate as florets, and are excellent served to good bread / butter or crackers. While some are caught unawares by the pungent scent, the flavor can be quite addictive.

It is the real Thing and I know for 58 Years!

This last tête de moine was overly ripe. It is a strong tasting cheese to start with which I love. I have ordered it quite a few times. The particular one I received was too strong in ammonia. Often a hit, this time was a miss. I recommend buying it from this vendor. I will continue to do so. Make sure to request the level of ripeness you desire.

We were excited to receive this. Loved it the one time we had it at my partner's daughter's wedding. Put it in the refrigerator the day we received it. Opened it up for a party last week and it was sticky and rank. Very very disappointed with the money we put out

One of the finest cheeses that I have ever eaten!

The product is just fantastic by texture, smell and taste. I order it once/year for New Year to have something special. But two times of three I had a problem. First time I ordered it in a full size (not half) and returned it as it was spoiled badly. I saw this when I opened it just before the holiday. Second time I ordered it in a half size and it was good. Possible, it was a different company (the half of it was almost the same price as a full size). Third time-full size again from this company and it was partially spoiled. This time I didn't have time to returned it. So, I just cut the bad sides, top and bottom and used it. Be prepare to have not a best quality for this price.
