Good quality dutch oven
This is a very easy to clean dutch even and holds plenty of food when you want to make leftovers. The lid is also super nice when you're trying to cook. Overall functionality and cooking ability are top notch. Would buy again if needed.

I have purchased several Amazon Basics Dutch ovens
The factory preseasoning may not have been baked long enough. A huge amount of smoke is produced during the first use or the first additional seasoning session of this Dutch oven. I have purchased several of them over the past two years. I believe that the excess smoke is emitted because they were not baked long enough at the factory. So much smoke was produced in my brand new oven that I have to now clean the glass and the exterior trim around the oven doorof my stove. They arrive nice black and shiny. I love the look, but I think it is at a cost of not having the seasoning baked on long enough. So this time I placed two of them on my gas grill outside. And I baked them at about 450° four 2 hours. They are now matte black and awaiting my first seasoning session. Hopefully this will prevent any future flaking and rusting. I haven’t had the flaking and rusting problem with my previous ones because I tend to go overboard on the seasoning process. I baked these on my grill because I want to avoid the huge amount of smoke which is produced when doing them initially in my indoor oven.

This is a great product and I would definitely buy again. absolutely perfect! This cast iron pot with lid isn't just for cooking, you will make memories with your family and then one day it will be passed down to the next generation -cast iron lasts forever. Please do not hesitate to buy. (See Update Below)To care for this item: Once this pot is used and needs to be cleaned, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Boil in pot for two minutes or until food stuck to pot softens, etc. This is to sterilize the pot. Then scour this pot with dawn and brillo or some other metal scrubbing pad. Once all visible food is removed and pot appears clean, rinse with hottest water possible. Place pot on stove burner and turn on high heat until water evaporates from bottom of the pot. Finally, place pot and clean lid into the oven to fully dry. That's it :) No further efforts are required, no seasoning necessary. My family has used this method for more than twenty years on various cast iron pots and pans, I write this to assure you our method works perfectly.***UPDATE: Whenever food burns, due to the ridges in the bottom of the pan, it's extremely difficult to clean... I can't recommend this product. When buying a pan or skillet, make sure the bottom is smooth.*** Updated Update: Using a steel scouring pad, not brillo (would work but be more difficult), the bottom ridges scrub off easily enough, so now I have a smooth bottom. This pan is a bit more work to clean after use, but I much prefer extra work to feeding my family with aluminum pans because the aluminum is passed onto us through the food. I would buy again, and I do now recommend this pan once again, just that it's extra work. Stainless steel pans are also safer than aluminum and easier to clean than iron, though without the benefit of the added iron to food by cooking it in this pot.****Updating the Updated Update: One year later, we love this pot.
