Outstanding product and service
At first I was skeptical reading the description of this item. But after receiving the the case I could smell the leather after opening the box. It does indeed fit like a glove, smells like leather, excellent quality, and looks fantastic. The case that was shipped to me had no visible marks or defects and had the "canon" logo stamped on the front.I wanted this case to protect my G12 camera because I have a bad habit of throwing stuff in the back seat of my truck and then they get jostled around. This case will take care of that. As far as the canon logo is concerned I wish it didn't have it and I would have preferred if it was more rustic looking. I like the old "retro" beat up look. Anything to divert attention to the fact this is an expensive camera.I've enjoyed doing business with Amazon for many years and have always had a positive buying experience. I'm a prime member and will continue to be unless service degrades which I don't see in the future. Their shipping is on time and never have to leave my apartment. What more could I ask for.

I'd buy it again.
It arrived quite carefully packed. It seems well-made, fits my G12 right. The stitching of the leather is uniform, straight. But as I saw in another review, the back lower lip interferes just a bit with closing the display. Just a little pressure at that point and it closes just fine.It has a soft lining, but overall seems to have good stiffness of the leather material when closed around the camera. The bottom knob screws into the tripod mount just fine. The bottom cover needs to be removed to get to the battery/card door, and the connection ports on the side.Another review worried about having somewhere to put the top half while using the camera. But I might try just unfastening the bottom snap, leaving the two side snaps on, and swing the top part backward over the camera and letting it hang. Those who have owned this cover, please chime in on your experience with this method.Overall, I'm pleased. I'll see how things go as I start using it real-world.

Improved case for G10
I wore out a factory "Canon" leather case when the lower bottom piece of leather (where the tripod thumbwheel is mounted) became unglued from the vertical main piece that surrounds the camera. This case is stitched along the bottom and I'm hoping it provides longer service. Can't complain about the first one, mind you, it did its job saving the camera from getting beat up. And I guess I could re-glue it. I was attracted to the old-style leather color of this one and it does fit well on the difficult right side of my Canon G-10. This side of the camera is thicker than the left side because of the battery and memory card location. So it could have been a sloppy fit by the time the case gets to the more slender left side and the viewing screen. One difference between this and the older Canon case is the cutaway on the left edge. I presume this provides clearance for the hinge of the fold-out screen of the younger G-11 and G-12 models. Not a big sacrifice in protection for the fixed-screen G-10, but I would have picked a case that covered that edge as before, had I seen one listed. As others have mentioned, there is NO logo with "Canon" on the front snap-on cover as shown in some images listing this case. I don't use the front cover anyway, but it might be important to someone. Packaging was unusually good, with tissue paper to prevent scuffs during shipping, and a foam insert where the camera would sit to maintain the shape of the case. Outer plastic bag and a bag of anti-mildrew silica gel deep inside was impressive.

clumsy. lacks functionality.
if this were strictly a beauty contest, then i would be awarding the case four to five stars as it is exactly what i thought it would be. However, i still would like to put my G11 inside of it and also comfortably take pictures. First problem-my camera doesn't fit properly on the screw-on base. I have tried now four times to gently force the male part of the case fully into the female part on the base of the camera and it simply doesnt go all the way down, leaving about a 1/4 inch space between the base of the camera and the floor of the case. also, while the camera sits clumsily on the screw, it also rests at an angle. 2nd problem, the camera is difficult to use when it lives inside this case. True you can use the swivel screen, but the leather flesh hanging from the camera (if you unsnap all buttons but the bottom one) is a bit annoying and gets in the way if you choose to leave it on for more than a couple shots. Also, in order to access the battery and memory cards i would have to dislodge my camera from the screw prong at the base of the case and then skewer it once again when i was ready to snap shots. I fear that through use the female receiver part on the base of my G11 will be worn down or at least gently misshapen so that it will no longer easily accept tripods on its own. This is a big disappointment as i was really looking forward to using this case and, for the most part, saw overly positive reviews. Please consider this review when considering purchasing this case. I will continue to use the black square-style Canon case that the G11 came with while hoping to return this brown retro-case.

Beautiful Case, serious design flaws
First the good points: the case is very nice looking and the leather appears to be decent quality and smells like a new leather case should. The snaps and knob are chrome instead of the brass shown in the picture but that is very minor. The Negatives: I thought the case was designed so that the top part stayed attached to the camera and swung down when you opened it. Unfortunately it swings down and blocks the lens, keeping it from extending. This means that in order to take pictures you have to completely remove the top part of the case and carry it separately. Also, the snaps a very loose and frequently come unsnapped. I have returned it and will look for something else.In Summary: Beautiful looking case that will protect your camera but get in the way when taking pictures.
