Great looking functional speakers!
I bought this to add to my newly built system. I have nothing negative to say about it so far, only good things! Why I bought this brand? - I will admit that I was not very sure what I am spending money on when I clicked the One-Click button and made the purchase. Let me emphasize that this was not an impulse buy by any chance, I did research a bit about 2.1 speaker systems and did consider other models, mainly Logitech and Creative, before I bought this! What worried me though was the fact that I had never heard anything about this brand or their reliability, and there was very little information available on the net, which is not a very reassuring sign. But I decided to go with this, mainly because of 2 factors: 1) Aesthetics: My new build has blue led fans all through out - 7 fans on the case and 2 CPU cooler fans! So Blue was definitely the predominant theme on the desk and this added to that very elegantly. So yes the major reason I stumbled upon these and got stuck was because I was searching for speakers with some LED lighting on them. I know it is not a very technical way evaluate a speaker, but who wanted to get technical and spend a bomb on a pair of speakers for your computer - not me! I have a 7.1 home theater set up for serious listening and entertainment, this was majorly for listening to some light music while I worked and for my 2 year old son to watch Thomas (he loves Thomas) and for my amateur movie soundtracks! 2) Price: This definitely is not the cheapest or the costliest out there, computer 2.1 speaker systems can be your from $15 bucks onwards upto around $400. This falls towards the lower mid range when it comes to money, which was okay with me, I was not going to spend more than $50 for a pair of speakers and I could have got a more known brand for that price, but non of those well known brand out there even came close to these beauties in terms of looks and aesthetics! It was between this and Harman Kardon Soundsticks III , if I had got the Harman Kardon for $50 I would have defenitelly bought those! :) Okay now to the actual product review: I was pretty surprised when I got the speakers. They were very well packaged and had a cardboard padding around them in the box and the speakers and subwoofer was very well protected! It comes with a 3.5mm cable! Took them out while my son was playing with the box and got it hooked up in under 5 min, this included some cable management, and referring to the manual once. I had to look at the manual because I could not find where the input jack was to which the speaker cable would connect to on the subwoofer. It looked like a screw hole at the back of the speaker, but it is the input jack (for any one who is as blind as me)! Hooked the light green 3.5mm cable to connect to the motherboard audio jack, same color (refer you motherboard manual to be sure, if you don't know) and connect the other end to the subwoofer, attach the speaker wires to the subwoofer and plug the power cord into the wall and switch it on. That's it, that is all of the setup required, no CD's to run, no software to download! Once on you see the true splendor of the blue LED lights, it looks better than in the pictures, it is definitely a good buy if you like LED lighting, if not then don't buy it because there is no way to switch the lights off, it will stay on as long as the speaker is on! I like it that way. The sound is great quality too, exceptional for this price and it plays bass very well as well, you can definitely feel it if you have them on the desk like I do! They are very stable on the desk, another added plus that I was worried about, I have had speakers in the past which were very wobbly and would tip over with the slightest force like a keyboard touching it! But not this one, they are pretty well designed for stability. The 4W satellite speakers are excellent for music, I've played all kinds on them, they all sound equally good, as good as you can get on a 2.1 setup, the sound isolation on the left and right is awesome and the drivers do a more than sufficient job. The bass comes from the 9W subwoofer and that is great sounding too. While playing games bombs and gunshots sound very realistic and you have volume and bass controls right on the front panel of the subwoofer! So overall it provides good value for money and a great looker too. My only wish is that it would have come with a remote control, that would have been great and I wouldn't have to bend and reach every time I wanted to soften the volume or bass a little bit (I place my subwoofer on the shelf under the desk and not on it)! But hey apart from that I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and performance so far, reliability I'm waiting to find out, its only been a week since I started using it, will update this review if something goes wrong, although I have a very strong intuition that this will last long, if I manage to keep it far out of reach from my 2 year old! :)

The Answer To My Prayers
** LENGTHY REVIEW AHEAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. LOL ** I was born on October 21, 1978, which makes me thirty-six years old as of this review. Anyhow, I am permanently bedridden and in a nursing home due to advanced and aggressive Multiple Sclerosis. After my laptop died, my only form of recreation is my Samsung Galaxy Avant smartphone. It has a veritable library of music and videos on it. Other than that, it's been things such as Kindle, Netflix, Solitaire, YouTube, etc... However, my ears have been ringing incessantly, making it sound like I am underwater for months now. With no-one even checking my ears, let alone trying to solve the problem, I had to resort to purchasing an actual speaker system, just to be able to hear my cellphone, for crying out loud! All because all of the headphones that are out now either hurt my ears, don't stay in my ears and/or give me migraines. The ONLY pair of headphones that have EVER been perfect for me in EVERY way Sony up and decided they just HAD to discontinue. Trust me, I'm nowhere NEAR the only person livid by Sony's decision, by the way. Oh well, it's their loss, a BIG loss, I might add. So, I was "forced" to go THIS way, instead. At any rate, this one "ticked" all of my "boxes", and then some. This makes it the Proverbial Cloud's Silver, Gold AND Platinum lining. 1. It uses my cellphone's headphone jack for the audio. 2. It uses its own AC power cord that easily plugs into my surge protector for power, freeing my cellphone's mini USB, so I can power my cellphone at the same time! Most of the other speaker systems I've seen uses the cellphone's mini USB to power them, so this is a HUGE PLUS! 3. This speaker system actually comes in RED! - My "signature" color. My laptop, mouse, cellphone cover, male to male cord (it didn't say it cones with one here, so I purchased one just to be on the safe side), ALL RED Even the stone on my Class of '97 ring is RED. My high school's colors are actually Blue and White, with Red only being used as an "accent" color to make sports teams and cheerleaders uniforms and whatnot look "Patriotic". Even the birthstone for October is either something that looks like a Pink Diamond, or an Opal, both of which I hate with a vengeance, ugh! *shudders* LOL So Red has been my color for quite awhile now. I'm "slightly" on the Photophobic side, with Non-White LED Lights being the ONLY type of lights I can handle and don't give me migraines. So, Hallelujah, I can handle looking at RED LED Lights! 4. Not only can *I* FINALLY hear my cellphone, in stunning clarity no less, I was actually asked to turn it DOWN because my neighbor, FROM ACROSS THE HALL, heard it OVER his television! - My nurse at the time even thought it was a STEREO! 5. I have received so many "whoa's" and compliments, over LED lights, quality of sound, the fact that the two satellite speakers are as thin as they are, yet more powerful than speakers two times, three times, even four or more times as thick as they are. They also think it's cool you can adjust the bass and volume independently of each other, the LED lights and power it on/off, all on the subwoofer alone. I'd have to concur with them. 6. Additionally, I'm more than a bit wary over new products, and whether or not I'll be able to operate them, because of the loss of feeling and dexterity caused by my MS. The knobs on this unit are easy enough, though, even for me to work. Even so, they're not flimsy, either. 7. All this, for just about $60.00 (which means free shipping if you purchased it on Amazon)? And that's just for ONE customer, ALONE. *ahem* I'm just sayin'... Needless to say, I am so thoroughly impressed by this spea.ker system, and love it so very much, that I have recommended it to every aide, doctor, nurse, etc... Now I Thank God Sony discontinued those headphones of theirs. (If you actually made it to the end of this review, I appreciate it and applaud you, as anything I write tends to be called a novel. LOL)

Cheap, reliable and full of Bass!
So, after reading some of the reviews on this product I had to ask myself two questions... first, who are these people who are buying this for it's cool blue lights and then complaining they're not Bose quality speakers, and should I buy it based solely on the opinions of the people who like it? I chose to go ahead and spend the money on these - and boy am I glad that I did! Seriously, I've had $300 systems that didn't sound any better than this, and this comes in a nice small package with purdy blue lights. So, Pros and Cons... Pros: Loud - I have no idea what people are complaining about - granted, you probably won't throw a house party and still be able to hear the music, but what do you want from a pair of desktop speakers? :) Pretty - Yes, I said it - they are very nice looking speakers sitting on my desk and go well with all the other blue LED stuff I have sitting on or around or near my desk ;) If only Commodore had known Blue LED's would sell more C64's than red ones. Heh... if only they'd had blue LED's then ;P Clear - Turn the speakers down, turn the driving force up (the volume on your PC) and you'll get superb sound at a good level in crystal clarity. Cons: Controls in the wrong place - from my perspective, the point of desktop speakers is to have the controls *on* the desktop. In this particular model, that thought was epic fail. They put them on the sub-woofer. I have long legs and long toes, and can do things like turn knobs and flip switches with them (takes many, many years of practice - not!) and as such it's more of a 'meh' than anything else - but it is a design flaw from my perspective ;) Lack of controls - I'll reiterate what others have said here as well - while the blue lights sure are purdy - and I don't sleep in the same room as my PC - I can see how they could be annoying. Most things these days with bright lights have a way to turn them off. The only way to turn off these lights is to turn off the power, which as noted above is on the sub-woofer under my desk. And for the record... yes I do just leave them on ;) No flashy, flashy - as others have indicated the bass detection in these units is too low - they're supposed to blink the lights to the beat - they don't. Mine don't blink at all, ever, no matter how much bass, no matter how much signal - no blinky. Again, I don't really care, but it is advertised as doing so - so another design flaw. So, for the money these are a decent set of speakers that look cool, sound good, but don't exactly work as advertised. If you want something that looks cool and doesn't have design flaws you might find annoying, then look I would look elsewhere - if you're like me and just want to hear decent sound with decent bass out of your system, and the blue lights are a mere novelty to you (as they should be), then these are a good buy.

Phenomenal customer service from Accessory Power and a stylish product
UPDATE: First off I want to say that the customer service I have received from Accessory Power was one of the best experiences I have ever had and as such I wanted to thank them by revising my review. They were kind, quick, and provided top notch service to me after hearing my story about their product. The replacement system which they provided for me works fantastic and sounds just how it should. The volume and bass are fantastic and everything works very well. I recommend these speakers for those who would like to have a combination of style and good sound quality with a subwoofer to add a little oomph. As an added bonus I'll add some pictures and video footage of these lovely things :). Also in regards to the speaker rattling and sound quality, it appears that those issues are resolved with the replacement system I received OLD REVIEW FOR CONTEXT PURPOSES: 2/5 Stars From the get go I wasn't too happy with these speakers, the sound quality was "okay" and the construction of speakers was very cheap (had to make adjustments to remove rattling sound). After about 10months of use they finally started having an issue of the volume working at half capacity. I tried new cables, different devices, and other speakers to isolate these speakers as the problem for the low sound. Hopefully others will have a better experience then I did. The problem of the sound volume getting progressively worse appears to be related to corrosion on an electronic board inside the main unit which I found upon opening it

These are $40 speakers with $20 LEDs
In a word, these speakers are "okay." APPEARANCE: If you're here reading reviews, you're obviously intrigued by the shiny blue LEDs, so I'll start there. While they look "okay," you should be aware that they don't look nearly as spectacular as you might imagine them based on the pictures. The blue effect on the satellite speakers is created by shining an LED through a clear piece of plastic. There is a small LED emitter at the base of the speaker that shines upward, into the clear plastic. This effect causes the coloration at the bottom of the speaker to be very bright, while the coloration at the top of the speaker is nearly non-existant. It looks cheap. The base-pulse system that supposedly causes the LED to flicker with the music doesn't really work. When activated, it flickers sporadically as if the LED device is being powered by a dying battery. Despite these flaws, the GOgroove speaker system does look pretty cool - especially in the dark. The subwoofer box in particular is more attractive than I expected. SOUND: Like the appearance, the sound quality is merely average. The satellites produce a shallow sounding popping tone. They remind me of laptop speakers - especially up close. That's the bad news. The good news is: the sub provides a beautiful depth of sound. The lows sound great! From 10+ feet away, the system sounds pretty good! Unfortunately, at close range the satellites sound slightly poppy and crackly. Again, they remind me of laptop speakers. OTHER: When I first set everything up, my system sounded horrible. One of the satellites wasn't working, and the other was crackling. After tweaking a few things, I realized there was a problem with the input port. When the 3.5mm plug was fully inserted, it wasn't getting a good connection. I had to pull it half way out and twist it to finally get everything to work. This is obviously a problem that is indicative of a low build quality. I'm considering returning this product. BOTTOM LINE: If you absolutely have to have the blue LEDs, give these speakers a whirl. If you prefer sound quality and overall value - then look elsewhere. The simple truth is, when you buy GOgroove BassPulse speakers, you're paying an extra $20 for the LED effect.

In the longrun, I was extremely disappointed.
I'm coming back about two years after purchasing this unit to re-write my entire review. I'll sum it all up for you here at the top in case you're on a tight schedule - do NOT buy this unit, you WILL regret it. At first listen, this seems like a very good quality piece of equipment. It looks very nice (although my unit has never shown any evidence of its LED lights being able to flash with the rhythm of the music the way it's advertised to do) and its compact shape make it seem very economical. Here's the rub - I found out the hard way that this thing can only tolerate about one third of the total output gain with which it's capable of playing. I don't know whether this is a case of poor construction, poor quality materials, or both, but if you turn it up much louder than 1/3 gain on the unit (even from day one) it will start to buzz and rattle. REALLY irritating, and not to mention bad for the hardware. Over the course of two years, your unit will most likely beat the living snot out of itself as it steadily shakes itself apart inside and consequently becomes less able to handle audio played through it. For me, the first thing to go were the tweeters, which became rattly and scratchy in the presence of higher-treble sounds. It starts out manageable, but gets steadily worse. To offset this, I modified it by clipping them off their wires, stripping the wires and replacing them with two much bigger and better quality speakers of the same electrical impedance. This worked nicely for a time, but eventually the sub-woofer has started likewise falling apart. I can hardly play anything with even a moderate amount of bass without getting a really unnerving **PhPhRAaAaAaAaBbBbBbBT** sound out of it when the bass makes itself known in any given track. By now, it's even less than 1/3 gain that I'm able to use without dealing with this nonsense. I loved this when I first got it. It sounded beautiful, so I'm deeply disappointed. Anyway, don't be fooled by the glowing reviews of this item by people who most likely haven't owned it for very long. It's a rip-off. For the money it cost, it should be able to last a lot longer than it has and I plan to finally just replace the remainder of it with a much better quality sub-woofer.

Great looking, sound, and price!
Pros: Price!, Easy set up, Very cool look, good sound, Easily hooks up to ANY sound device Cons: Can't turn off lights, bass isn't ground shaking I got this product after looking through a bunch of speakers on the amazon website. Most of the other speakers were way over priced and I couldn't know how good the sound quality was without testing the sound. So I knew I was looking for something with a great price and a nice sound. I first looked at these speakers because of the price then I viewed the product and saw that they light up and flash with the bass of the sound. I was sold off the price and the look. Now that I have the product I put them in my dorm room and without the volume up all the way, the sound easily fills my whole room. My friends 4 dorms down can here the sound when its turned up all the way. The blue lights are very cool but honestly they don't really flash with the bass. The flashing does happen but it's a suttle flash. The bass isn't ground shaking but you can definitely tell when its on and when its not. The ease of set up and very light weight is also a perk. Just one plug and a switch (in the back of the bass) and its on. Makes for easy transport. I couldn't be more satisfied by my purchase.

Gogroove BassPulse From Amazon
So I read the reviews, oh yes I've heard this before. But the look size in the blue lighted speakers attracted me. I received my order from Amazon with their usual amazing speed. On opening and unpacking the speaker system got the 1st wow out of me. Couldn't believe how thin the main speakers were. I said no way are these going to produce any sound worth listening to. The subwoofer looked a lot more believable very solidly made and attractive. After hooking it up I played some of my favorite music through it, this time it was like wow wow, I couldn't believe the sound that came out of it. The subwoofer with its control work great as I could get the desired base effect that I wanted. I had just bought a Kindle with text to voice system. Now I use the Gogroove to listen to e-books when in bed. With the adjustments I could get that artificial voice to sound very nice to the ears. I am seriously thinking of replacing my Logitech speaker system, for my compute,r with one of Gogroove bass pulse system even though the Logitech sounds good it does not have the sharpness or the adjustment for bass. For the money is worth every penny of it and I don't think you'll be disappointed but don't expect for it to blow the roof off your house, it is loud enough for the purpose it was meant for. Just one negative the blue lighted speakers and base unit are quite bright at night. it would be nice to have a dimmer or switch to turn it off as it is almost bright enough to read by, which might be an asset at times. I have it set up right next to my bed and after a few nights it didn't bother me. So I would recommend this speaker system I don't think you will be disappointed.
