Q: I'm at 40 inches, should i get s/m or l/xl?

Be sure to measure your body around the hernia itself (not necessarily at your waistline), and in a relaxed stance, not holding your gut in! This S/M belt measures 36" when new. These belts do eventually stretch out a bit, but when new, this one didn't "give" much more than an inch at most. I recently lost 10 lb. and thought I could wear a S/M, but I could barely overlap 1/2 inch, and it was WAY too tight!

Q: My mother has a colostomy bag and also developed a parastomal hernia Any suggestions for a support belt? Thank you

Q: What size doI need for 47” ?

For a 47" body circumference, we recommend the size L/XL.

Q: My size is 40 inches want to get the S/M just wondering if it overlaps at all?

The small is to fit up to 40" so you are at the top of the measurement guide. It will stretch some so you will be still able to overlap some.
