With this kit, you get everything you need to start learning about connecting electronics to your micro:bit in an accessible and easy manner. micro:bit and AA battery NOT INCLUDED Everything is connected using the supplied alligator clips, no soldering making this kit suitable for children as young as 10 with some adult help. The instruction book leads you through getting started with your micro:bit and then building the following projects: Movement Alarm, Lighthouse, Shout-o-meter, Thermometer, Fan speed Controller, Automatic Fan and a Theramin-like 'Magic' Musical Instrument. Code is provided both for the Blocks editor and MicroPython. This kit includes the following items. MonkMakes Speaker for micro:bit MonkMakes Relay for micro:bit MonkMakes Sensor Board for micro:bit Set of alligator clip leads (10 leads) Small motor with fan Single AA battery box (battery not included) Light bulb and holder 30 page instruction book

Great kit with good beginner projects
The media could not be loaded. Great trio of boards for experimenting with the BBC micro:bit. You get a relay board, a speaker board and a sensor board (sound, temperature and light intensity), plus connection leads, motor/fan, 1.5V lamp and a AA battery holder. The lamp socket and battery holder can be a bit tricky to grab onto with the alligator clips, but nothing too distracting. The micro:bit has temperature and light sensors available on the board, so those sensors on the Monk Makes board are redundant, but I haven't yet taken the time to compare the values to see if one or the other is more sensitive/accurate. (EDIT: See the comments below to help clear up my mis-impression of 'redundancy'.)The project book is well illustrated and written (as is typical of Simon Monk's books) and offers some good introductory examples of using the various boards. (Note in the video I'm using the micro:bit's BLE - this isn't covered in the project book, but using the relay & motor is.)I'm a happy customer and look forward to using this kit with a coding class to introduce new programmers to physical computing with the micro:bit.

Excellent products!
I teach a high school class that uses Micro:bits. The Monk Makes products are amazing additions to this course. They are rugged, intelligently designed, and have awesome supplemental materials and codes (available online).I bought a few different micro:bit “kits” and tried them out before buying class sets. Monk Makes are far and away the best!

Great for independent or group learning situations
I received my kit before they were on Amazon in the US. We started using Microbits this fall (grades 6 & 7), and we wanted options for kids to take it further. This is definitely a great kit to help kids with foundational options for physical computing. Once they go through all of the lessons, they can invent so many things on their own - all they need is cardboard :-) The relay board is SO much better than having to breadboard. Simon's latest version of the handbook includes instructions for Python as well, so kids ready for syntax-based programming can move away from blocks.
