Disney Songs For Classical Piano - The Phillip Keveren Series

a real page turner
I like most of the arrangements of these songs, but the Kindle format is not great for playing music. I have the book on my iPad Pro with the 12.9 inch screen, which normally displays downloaded sheet music near the size of paper sheet music. Several of the songs start with the title information taking up half the page, making the first page of music half size. With some, the copyright information you see at the bottom of a paper copy is either at the top of the second page, again leaving the music smaller than usual, or all that you see on the second page, requiring you to turn 2 pages to continue the song. This inattention to adapting the music to the Kindle format is the reason for 2 stars. It's like you aren't really expected to play the music. To echo other reviewers, this is not a beginner book or even intermediate for some songs. The first song, from "Beauty and the Beast" has 5 flats, and a difficult arrangement which I doubt I will ever be able to adequately play. I'm having some success with some of the others and don't mind practicing to get there, but I feel the entire book should be for one skill level. Very disappointed overall.

I love arrangements for piano that combine classical with contemporary
I love arrangements for piano that combine classical with contemporary. I've seen some poorly done arrangements, but in my opinion, there are none in this collection. Of course, some of the pieces I prefer more than others, but that is mostly due to the fact that I am not familiar with 100% of the Disney songs in this collection. The arrangement of The Colors of the Wind is beyond gorgeous. Definitely my favorite out of all of them. :)Also, I would agree that while most of the songs in this collection are at intermediate level, there are a few that are fairly easy to play (and a few others that are more challenging) -- so there is a little variation among the arrangements in terms of difficulty level, but not to any extremes. As an advanced pianist, this is a book that I was able to pick up and sight-read the majority of the songs fairly well the first time through, although "fairly well" to me means being correct with notes/timing about 85% of the time, and not worrying (on the first read-through) about dynamics, etc.

Super fun to play
Really fun arrangements of some amazing Disney songs. I took years of classical piano lessons and enjoy that each of these are written in the style of a classical composer.

Growing on me
I wasn't crazy about these arrangements at first like his other books but their growing on me. One of the songs he copped part of a classical piece which I didn't like. But I appreciate that he was trying something different. He arranges gorgeous stuff and I'm very pleased with his other books.

Beautiful Arrangements
I have been playing classical piano for 16 years and as a Disney music lover, this book is perfect for me. The arrangements can be somewhat challenging but are a completely unique take on the classic Disney songs. These arrangements have so many intricate details that set them aside from the more basic arrangements that I love. I cannot recommend this book enough to the advanced pianist!

excellent book
A REALLY wonderful buy! I'm an advanced intermediate or early advanced pianist, and found most of the songs at a good level--easily playable, with a few challenging bits. The introduction of classical themes into the music is beautifully done.

Great, but harder than expected
I was excited for the songs and the more challenging versions of them when I bought the book. I did the whole "look inside" and felt what they showed was totally doable. However, once I got the book it was clear that I totally overestimated my talents. So great book but I'm fairly sure I won't be able to play these songs properly anytime soon.

Inconsistent skill levels
Very inconsistent skill levels across various pieces. Some I can very easily sight read with few or no mistakes, but some are quite tricky. I wish they were more consistent. Colors of the Wind is unique and lovely, and in my opinion the best piece in the book — wish I had just purchased that one song!

Brilliant book
So clever to encorporate popular classical pieces with Disney tunes. Brilliant stuff! Content is not for the faint hearted but gives satisfaction when you've achieved it.

Lovely book, except I didn't realise it was for advanced piano players, so I actually had to buy a different one too.

Beautiful arrangements of medium-difficulty piano
This is a short selection of medium-difficulty piano arrangements of popular Disney songs. The songs follow the familiar melodies of Disney anthems with some original flourishes and adaptations. Easy to learn and would be suitable for solo performance or as mood music.

Schade.
