Some issues that the reseller should get sorted out with the manufacturer.
Lets start this review by saying that this is my 6th Bitaxe Gamma 601.The other 5 are from other vendors.I ordered this one because it is a made in the USA board and it was on sale.So I received it very quickly and plugged it in to get it setup for my wifi and bitcoin pool information.Right away I noticed that the display was non functional. No worries since I figured they had it turned off in the menu.So it was then I realized that even if you have the display set to be off in the menu, it does still turn on for a minute or so when you first plug it in.I decided to remove it from its case..which is just a snap on style covering. It was then I discovered that this board was not assembled fully. The display board has 4 pins that plug into a header that is always soldered onto the board. This way you can easily remove and replace the display if it ever fails.Well this kit does not have the display board pin header on the motherboard. The manufacturer never installed it and just set the display board pins through the holes in the motherboard without soldering anything. The display board just falls out.I reached out to Altair IO to discuss this but was told that they do not manufacture these, but are just a reseller. This QC issue could have been easily caught not only by the manufacturer but also by the reseller.I will obtain a pin header and solder it to the board myself. In the image attached here, the one with the part circled in blue..that is the the part that is missing from this miner. The display board pins plug into that pin header. Now regarding the heatsink and fan...toss those and install a better heat sink and Noctua fan.The supplied heat sink is the thinnest I have seen a BitAxe come with.It is not suitable for even stock settings. The fan uses the small 4 pin jst connector which is fine, but I'd still swap it out with a Noctua fan.On that note, a positive here is that this board comes with both the standard 4 pin and the jst 4 pin pwm fan headers. So on stock settings with the stock heat sink and fan, this thing starts to get really hot.The vrm was at 86c and the asic was reporting 77c before I shut it all off.Just not enough cooling and air flow for a bitaxe gamma.Since it would be more of a hassle to send this back for a refund, I decided to keep it and just modify it into a useable gamma 601 with an 52PI heat sink and a Noctua fan with Noctua thermal paste.I did install heat sinks on the vrm and the resistors on the back of the board and installed a 5 volt fan on the back to keep those components cool. When encased in this blue enclosure, without the rear fan the vrm and power resistors do not get any cooling air and they get hot!If you read the other reviews on this model, something I admit I did not do, you will see others reporting issues very similar to what I have experienced. You can see in the images the missing display board header and some of my quick mods to keep things running.Right now, its breaking in at 625mhz and 1150mv and my temps are decent now.For my part, I will say that I am ok with what I paid for this kit on sale, since I planned to replace the fan and stock heat sink anyways, but there are buyers out there who would not know much about these so this is the reason for this long detailed write up.I'm sure Altair will get on it and get this sorted out with the manufacturer. They are a really good company and deserve better than this from their supplier.

Screen not working but otherwise perfect
The little screen on it doesn’t work, and AxeOS can’t get an accurate voltage reading (shows 0V input), but it’s otherwise working fine and mining BTC which is all that matters
