Q: Does this work off 24hrs or 12? In other words do you have to make sure you turn it on after 6pm if you want to get up at 6am?

This is a 12 hour clock, you can only set for 6:00. The clock has no feature to distinguish between a.m. and p.m. however, if you turn the alarm set at 6:00 on after 6:00 p.m. it will go off at the next 6:00 which would be a.m. It is very loud so it works well for heavy sleepers or anyone with hearing difficulties.
