'GNX' is Kendrick Lamar's first album following his departure from longtime labels Top Dawg Entertainment and Aftermath Entertainment. Named after the Buick Regal GNX model, the album serves as a follow-up to 'Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers' (2022). Executive produced by Lamar and Dave Free, the album includes guest appearances by AzChike, Dody6, Hitta J3, Peysoh, Roddy Ricch, Siete7x, SZA, Wallie the Sensei, and YoungThreat. Additional vocal contributions come from Deyra Barrera, Sam Dew, and Ink. The production is led by Sounwave, with contributions from Jack Antonoff, Mustard, Sean Momberger, Kamasi Washington, and others. GNX ist kein Album für den Hintergrund, sondern eines, das man bewusst hört. Kendrick Lamar klingt hier kompromisslos, fokussiert und stellenweise angenehm roh – genau das macht den Reiz aus. Auf Vinyl kommt diese Stimmung besonders gut rüber. Der Sound ist kräftig, klar und sauber, mit sattem Bass und ohne störende Nebengeräusche. Die Platten selbst wirken hochwertig, sind plan und laufen problemlos. Auch bei Verpackung und Lieferung gibt es absolut nichts zu beanstanden. Alles kam sicher und ordentlich verpackt an, ohne Knicke, Kratzer oder andere Schäden. Cover und Hüllen waren in einwandfreiem Zustand, was bei Vinyl ja leider nicht immer selbstverständlich ist. Musikalisch wächst GNX mit jedem Durchlauf. Gerade auf Vinyl entfalten die reduzierten Beats und Kendricks präzise Texte eine besondere Nähe und Intensität, die das Album noch eindringlicher wirken lassen. Unterm Strich: Wer Kendrick Lamar mag und Vinyl schätzt, macht hier nichts falsch. Sehr gute Pressqualität, problemlose Lieferung und ein Album, das in der Sammlung definitiv seinen Platz verdient.
