Outstanding TV Sound System
Super duper; couldn't be better. Very clean sound and with good base. Can even adjust the voice layer to make it stand out better (and this works!). Would buy again in a heartbeat!

Denon bugs
Bought this soundbar to replace an older Polk Audio soundbar. Both had wireless subwoofers. The Polk was giving me some problems (it would not turn-on sometimes even though the on/off switch was on). I'd have to go to the soundbar and turn it off and back on and it would then work. Then I lost the remote (how does anybody lose a remote in the house and never find it again). The Polk soundbar actually was a better sounding soundbar, but I had to find another. The Denon actually sounds pretty good. Even though the drivers are smaller than the Polk's, it presents a good sound stage. The subwoofer is actually a little better than the Polk subwoofer. The Polk sub always sounded boomy no matter what the level was. With the Denon, it has Dolby Atmos which does give a surround sound option which actually sounds good. Definitely not as good as real surround sound (that's a no-brainer), but does expand the sound stage. It does have a few other interesting controls for selecting movie, night and music settings. There's also a three-setting dialogue enhancer which brings voices more to the front in case you have hearing issues (I do - Rock and Roll bands). Now to the "Denon bugs" headline I used. When I opened the box (which was well sealed), there were a dozen or more cockroach-like insects running around in the box. I had to quickly take the box outside in case one got loose in the house. Both the soundbar and the subwoofer were well wrapped inside the box so I didn't have any "bug" issues with them and the accessories were also in sealed bags. If this had not been the case, I would have sealed the box back up and returned it to Amazon. I'm not sure if the cockroaches were Chinese (where the soundbar came from) or American. I hear Chinese cockroaches are mean-spirited.

Excellent soundbar
I have traditional 5.1 surround sound set up in my family room and my 1st floor home office, which doubles as a secondary tv room, but I couldn't justify setting up a 3rd surround sound configuration for an outdoor tv I set up on a 3 season porch. However, I got tired of the poor sound off of the Sunbrite TV I have installed on the porch. It was drastically worse than what I was accustomed to, and made the viewing experience bad enough that I avoided watching a movie etc on that tv.I was wary about the quality of what soundbars provided based on what I heard at friend's homes. But lately I had read some positive reviews of soundbars, so I gave it a try. I am a fan of Denon in general. Their products are not the cheapest, and they are a bit outside the norm (I see a lot more Bose for wired audio and Sonos for wireless), but I find that Denon/HEOS provides the best value and I can count on the audio quality always being the priority with their products. I have heard complaints about the HEOS app, but for me, their mixture of receivers, wireless speakers, and HEOS Amps. After not having the opportunity for the ten years I lived in my first home, when I moved to a new home in 2016 that was new construction, I wired the place up before the walls closed. Although Sonos now has amps like the HEOS ones, and Bose also technically competes across the board, I like the fact that Denon products always sound great, everything I buy for audio in my home or away from my home can be within the Denon/HEOS ecosystem - receivers, amps, peripherals, wireless speakers - and while the price point is not low, it is not top of the market either. When I see negative reviews of Denon, I often see comments that this standard or that standard isn't supported, or that they are not 100% alexa compatible, which is true for all until their most recent line of products.I judge audio products on how they sound, not by the specs, outside of requirements. What I mean is - yes, specs matter, but it's not a specs-driven decision. I have never heard a samsung or sony audio product that sounds right to me. This soundbar, like the other products I have bought, sounds GREAT. This was the purchase I was most concerned about compared to past receivers and speakers. I have heard Vizio soundbars that in my opinion sounded terrible. Granted, they were cheaper, but still, they sucked. The other chief complaint about denon/heos is the heos app. I have seen the sonos app and I would agree, it is cleaner and better designed from a software perspective than the heos app. But for me, I am using a harmony remote for TV, or I am using spotify on my iphone, and spotify connect integrates natively with heos/denon products, so I can choose the speaker or receiver right from my spotify iOS app. That renders the heos app inferiority null and void for me. If I was a TIDAL user, maybe it would be different. Like other denon products, the inputs and so on are excellent, an area Denon often beats Bose.I'm actually shocked by how good this soundbar/subwoofer combo is. it approaches, not quite 100%, but it approaches the 5.1 I have elsewhere. If I set up a TV in my bedroom or somewhere else in the future, I am likely to go with a Denon soundbar again.I don't write reviews often, but this deserved a thumbs up. It's a great product that flies under the radar.

nothing comes close in this price range
Awesome sound quality and good sound stage in music mode. Movie mode kind of shrinks the sound stage but enhances the dialogues (this is a killer feature and works as advertised), wish they had implemented this better. I think Denon is lying, this doesn't sound like a mere 150w system, its plenty loud and doesn't distort at high volumes !!Very minimalistic look, just the gray fabric at the front with the tiny Denon logo. The remote looks good, but feels cheap, the button are spongy and needs a firm push. The remote is from the 90's, you need to point it head straight at the soundbar for it register a press !!The only reason I bought this over the Polk S4 was the hdmi input with 4k HDR pass-through, this is very important if you have old TV which doesn't have eARC or if it cant decode atmos. It is also convenient to have input port on the soundbar, saves a hdmi port on the TV :)I got it for $249 and its a steal for that price (considering how other soundbars are priced with similar feature set)

Great unit for the price
I'm not an expert on sound equipment... I just wanted something with some BOOM and could actually hear dialogue in movies. I never heard of Denon so I was skeptical and didn't realize they've been around for over 100 years. I pulled the trigger because of all the great reviews and wasn't disappointed. Like others stated, setup was amazingly simple. I had it up and running in a few minutes with no issues. I tested it by watching Fast 5 and was blown away how great the movie sounded. I love that it turns on and off when with the TV power. The remote is very simple to use and effective. I know there much better units out there, but if you're like me and just want something that sounds good during movies and use as a stereo in the living room, you can't go wrong with this unit.
