Can I open the steel cylinder before the pressure gauge returns to zero?

NO. After all the reaction gas in the cylinder is used up (i.e. the pressure gauge is reset to zero), adjust the micro adjustment valve to release the residual gas, and then open the cylinder valve for cleaning or re adding raw materials.
