Series 2 vs. Series 3 vs. Platinum vs. Diamond
Yet another iteration from Philips in the Sonicare range, which although it is an excellent toothbrush, leaves me questioning the range. The biggest difference you notice if you compare the base model $40 with the series 3, $60 with the Platinum $100, and this Diamond $190 (all prices approximate) is actually the price. They all use patented Sonic technology, they all have 31,000 minimum brush head speed, they all promise 5x or higher plaque removal, and improved gum health because the benchmark is MANUAL brushing. Why can't we have a side by side compasion across the range? This diamond edition, is a "smart" toothbrush so it has a sensor, several brushing modes, a cool charging glass, and a plastic travel case. It also comes in an assortment of colors, including black and purple. As much as I like all the features, the brush head replacements are still pricey, and I honestly don't see that big of a leap in oral health between the $40 and the $200.

Good toothbrush, but did not come with charging travel case
The toothbrush works very well, and is easy to set up and use. The app is also helpful, though I probably won’t use it much after I’m more familiar with using the toothbrush. I would have given it 4 or 5 stars. However, the travel case included with my toothbrush (style 9500, model HX993S) was NOT a charging case, even though the product description and photos clearly indicate that a charging travel case is included. Philips website also shows that this model is supposed to come with the charging travel case. I called Amazon product support, and they offered to replace it or give me a partial credit back. Since I didn’t notice this until I’d already been using the toothbrush for a few days, I took the credit. I notice at least one other reviewer stated that they did not get the charging case, so this may not be an isolated issue. Be sure to check your travel case when you get the package!

Love the whitening mode! It really works!
Will never go back to a traditional toothbrush. This was recommended to me by my dental hygienist after my latest dental exam. I have been using invisalign and felt my teeth were getting a little yellow from always having a retainer in. Since I can not whiten my teeth until after my invisalign buttons are removed, I decided to try this toothbrush. This highly advanced tooth brush has 5 different modes: clean, deep clean, gum health, white +, and tonguecare+. I also wanted this toothbrush kit for the charging case, so I can use when I travel. When my toothbrush arrived I was super surprised how light it was. I knew sonicare toothbrushes are larger, but this one is very lightweight. I mainly bought this toothbrush for its whitening benefits, so that is the mode I have been mostly using. The first time I used it, I was surprised by how strong the vibrations were! I had to turn down the intensity (this tooth brush has 3 levels of intensity, sonicare recommends you work your way up and always use level 3) to handle the full 2 minutes of brushing. I also had to take breaks the first few brush sessions. After trying all the different modes, I learned the whitening mode has the most intense vibrations. After a few days you get used to the vibrations and can turn up the intensity, I think it took me 4 days or 8 brush sessions to be able to handle the 3rd level of intensity. After brushing my teeth they feel squeaky clean. The kind of clean you get when you walk out of the dentists office! I have always had a little problem with gingivitis and bleeding. Within one full week of using this brush, no bleeding! Even after flossing- my gums feel stronger if that is even a thing. I love the app too. I am a techy person so this is an incentive for me to brush! I love watching the app to see if I miss any spots when I brush. I noticed that I favor my left side of my mouth more than my right. You also realize how long 2 - 2.5 minutes are since the app gives you a count down. You think you are brushing the full two minutes, but my guess is youre probably not! So for me this is an awesome app! I highly recommend this toothbrush! The whitening mode really works, I have been using it with a whitening toothpaste and feel my teeth are at least 2 shades whiter!

Great, but complicated
Have been a Sonicare customer since the first edition. This is my third version, and while I have had a good experience in the past, the product keeps getting more and more complicated. I had to refer to the instruction manual to figure out how to deactivate the "pressure sensor", the "brush head replacement reminder", and the "Easy-start" feature. In my opinion, those should be "opt-in" features vs. "opt-out" features.

was not delivered complete as advertised. was supposed to include a "charging" travel case, so that you could recharge via USB - the case with this order is just a case - no USB cable, nothing.a $250 rip-off

Engineering problems with the new Phillips Sonicare Electric Toothbrushes.
For the second time I am returning the Phillips Sonicare Smart Electric Toothbrush. Works for about a week and then stops vibrating and functioning. I have had a prior model for 4 years and never had trouble. The newer model should be removed from the market.

The best feature for me on this toothbrush is that it ...
My teeth are already noticeable whiter. I bought this because I have the tendency to brush too hard on my gums and was causing gum damage as a result. The best feature for me on this toothbrush is that it stops and alerts you, if you are brushing too hard. I'm actually excited for my next dentist visit. Personally, I don't like the cup, but it comes with a regular stand to charge it.

Really worth the money. Love the clear glass that doubles as your charger.
Ok. I LOVE this toothbrush. My other sonicare died. I caught myself telling friends about my toothbrush. It really cleans and leaves your mouth feeling wonderful and I don’t get that itchy nose from the vibrations. No, I don’t use the app and Bluetooth stuff but love that is flashes when I brush too hard. May play with the app operation that tells you where you are brushing the least and the most. Great idea. They really have made huge improvements in this toothbrush. I also like having a sleek black toothbrush for once. Weird I know. But enjoying it! It comes with a clear glass that you rinse with and charge it in. That is so cool. It keeps your sink area not looking cluttered.
