I’m an ultralight fisherman. I own a lot of tackle, and 90% of it is ultralight. Unless I need a heavier rig for really big fish I’m fishing sub-6 pound line on an UL rod with a 1000 or 500 size reel.I’m glad I added this Kast King new model Zephyr to my kit. I am already a Kast King fan with 3 older model lime green Zephyr UL rods and a couple of Perigree II rods, and 3 Zephyr reels. Kast King offers great quality in an affordable price range.I have a few high-end (more expensive) rods that have been disappointing (on one high-end brand the tip broke on the first cast!!) so high price does not always guarantee quality. That’s why I really like Kast King.I got the 6’2” UL Fast model, 2-piece. First impressions were very nice fit and finish, smooth guides (although the tip is super tiny), nice balance with a 500 size reel, a solid reel seat (I especially like that the adjustment that secures the reel is away from your hand so it shouldn’t work loose like some rods), and a rod butt section that isn’t overly long.With a 500 size Lew’s reel mounted the balance is very nice, and the action is exactly what I wanted. This rod is very nicely made and for the price, it’s a great value.

Perfect small trout rod, is light enough to throw flys but still handles nice sized trout on it. I hit the tip on a tree relatively hard and it didn’t break, pretty strong. Would buy again.

I can’t say enough good things about this rod. I paired it with the Zephyr 1000 and 4 strand 6lb kastking braid. Super sensitive, so light, didn’t break when I hooked a 15lb snapping turtle, (last pic). Handle is fine, but I hold the rod with only my pinky behind the reel so I don’t feel a whole lot of the handle. It can throw the little bitty strike king crankbaits that not a lot of rods can throw, and in the first six casts with this rod, I caught three bass. The other colorful fish you see in the pics are Mayan Cichlids. They’re basically like a freshwater snapper. They fight like buggers and pull a reasonably tight drag. Amazingly fun to catch on this rod. Overall, would totally recommend.

Feel is amazing. Can really load the light weight worms. Strong enough to set hooks and to reel in 5lb plus bass

I bought the KastKing Zephyr BFS rod (model krdcstzp-bfs69l3bk), and overall, I’m still happy with the purchase — even after a couple of unexpected issues.This is a 3-piece rod, and the top section snapped while I was trying to untangle some line and bent it a bit too far. I repaired it with a rod repair kit from Amazon and kept fishing. A few days later, the same section broke again in a different spot while I was pulling it out of its protective rod sleeve — not sure what caused that one. I repaired it again, but decided to reach out to KastKing support.I usually don’t bother contacting customer service because of past bad experiences, but this time was different. Winnie from KastKing made the whole process super easy. I gave my Amazon order number, sent some pictures, and they shipped me a replacement rod right away — it even arrived faster than expected. Great service. Thank you, Winnie!The BFS (bait finesse system) market is pretty limited on Amazon, but the Zephyr rod and reel combo is a great option. I’m running it with Sufix 832 braid (8lb) to a 6lb Sufix mono leader, and it casts beautifully one-handed.One thing I learned after buying: most anglers get a left-handed reel so they can cast with their right and reel with their left. I bought a right-handed one, so now I’m learning to cast with my left hand — but I’m okay with that.I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars only because of the durability issues with the top section. It’s a great rod, but I think that part could be a bit stronger. That said, the company stood behind their product, and that means a lot.If you're looking to get into BFS fishing and appreciate solid customer support, this is a great setup to start with.

First off I’m still a big fan and customer of Kastking products. This rod worked great first time out, caught 3 fish (white bass)…next day out, hooked into one and rod snaps…..

This light weight rod has a lot of feel to it and paired with the matching reel can cast very light lure a very long way!!

Great rod. I have landed 2 6 pound bass and a 7 pounder already.
