With bigger bugs you do hear a significant zap sound but with little bugs you hear a gentle zap. It also doubles as a nightlight which is very convenient. The media could not be loaded. This is great, it kills mosquitoes and every little bug that went to it. I have a lot of those little green bugs and mosquitoes. The only problem is that when a beetle or a fly gets zapped it gets stuck on the zapper and fries. It smells so bad. (I read a review saying flies aren’t attracted to it, that is not true) The beetles get zapped and then fall off and walk around all F***ed up. I never in a million years thought I would feel bad for a beetle. Those are my biggest bug hate. Anyway, good and bad feature, when the fly gets stuck and continues to fry the zapper will eventually stop working so that it doesn’t overheat or it’s overheating and it stops working for that reason. Either way you need to use the little brush to wipe off the fried fly. It’s nasty business. I returned it for that reason. It happened too much for my liking. Like every 5 minutes. I guess I need the super ultra one because of all the bugs in my yard. Yuck. If you are looking to get rid of mosquitoes and small bugs this is your zapper. It works great, seriously.
