Is your stomach sensitive to sugar alcohols? I didn’t know mine was until my doc got me on protein supplements. I was stoked to find a vegan protein bar that legit tasted like a candybar (rhymes with “hissfit”)…until a few hours later.Horrific gas. Thank god I work out at home, bc a gym woulda thrown out my stankbomb self. All that to say: turns out sugar alcohols (like mannitol, erythritol, other -tols) aren’t digestible by most people and produce copious amounts of sulfurous gas. FUN 🙃Was that TMI? Yes. But I hope it convinced you why it’s such a big deal that TruBar has NO SUGAR ALCOHOLS! For 190 cals and 12g of protein, these are awesome as post-workout or nighttime snacks. I’ve tried the ‘Donuts’, ‘Cookie Dough’, ‘Cocoa Coconut”, and “Cookies & Cream” flavors so far: all have a pleasant texture. They’re soft instead of hard and chalky, no taffy-like consistency of the old-school Powerbars. I tend toward the “dipped” or “frosted” flavors since I unashamedly love sweet stuff, but no one would mistake a TruBar for candy.The “Cocoa Coconut” flavor has coconut flakes and legit reminds me of a mounds bar. The two cookie flavors I’ve tried taste the most proteinaceous. The frosted “Donut” flavor is the one that initially hooked me on TruBar: the frosting cancels out the taste of vegan protein powder.Do I wish they were cheaper? Ofc; but I don’t mind paying more for a vegan protein bar (made by a woman-owned company!) that tastes good, helps me meet my protein goals and doesn’t have any negative impact on my digestion. 100% worth the price. Without supplementation and exercise, women lose 1-2% of our muscle mass every decade after 40; TruBar is an easy way to get the protein we need without surplus calories or terrible gas. Looking forward to trying other flavors!

Strawberry Shorty Got Cake: These bars are really special! They have a nice semi-chewy consistency with a thin vanilla/white glaze, and the strawberry flavor is prominent, but not artificial. You can smell it before you take a bite!Birthday Cake: This bar is pretty good, with some colorful sweet crystals on the top that add a little texture. The texture is smooth and vanillic, white glaze.Sweet & Dreamy, Cookies & Creamy: This has the white vanillic glaze with a chocolate interior, there are some chocolate "cookie chunks" within the bar for noticeable texture. The proportion of "cookies" to "cream" is like 80%/20%, and I wish it was a little more balanced, with a little more cocoa flavor to the cookie part, too. But overall I still like them.The price for a box of them here on Amazon is about the same as I can find in the stores ($2.50/bar), but more flavors are available online. My favorite flavors, in order, are: cookie dough, strawberry shortcake, birthday cake, and cookies & cream tied with macchiato.

This bars are pretty good! I have tried all of their flavors and my favorite by far is the Cocoa for coconuts! It's delicious you feel like you are having a dessert instead of a protein bar! The strawberry shorty got cake is good as well it has tiny crunchy pieces in the bar. The shake it bake it birthday cake is good as well it has sprinkles on the outside of the bar. It looks very festive and pretty. My least favorite is the Sweet & dream my cookies and creamy. My vegan daughter loved this flavor. She claimed it tasted like her favorite toaster pastry “Hot fudge Sundae” we ended up getting the coconut ones and birthday cake after reading more reviews. I’ll have to update once she tries the new flavors.REVIEW UPDATE:Tried the Birthday Cake and Coconut ones finally and have major thoughts! The birthday cakes ones sadly tasted artificial and were tossed upon trying. I even gave it to two other members of the family who had the same opinion, immediately spitting it out in disgust. The flavor was nothing like a birthday cake. However, the coconut ones are decent. Not as good as cookies and Creme, but if you like coconut, you’ll definitely like these. I gave a bar to my wife to try and she thought it had a sunscreen taste, but to me, it was very much a strong coconut; so taste is subjective. Out of the three I tried, I highly recommend the Cookies and Creme. I do not recommend the Birthday Cake to anyone (even my worst enemy)

Cookies and Creme: flavor matches description well. Exterior is vanilla ice cream like glaze, interior is chocolate cookie with lots of bits (I think rice puffs?). Very, very good in my opinion - my personal favorite flavor.Strawberry shortcake: flavor matches description well. Exterior is vanilla cream like exterior, interior is between cake batter and shortcake with some bits (freeze dried strawberries?). Strawberry flavor is present but far from overwhelming. Good in my opinion - I like but don't love strawberries.

Okay I finally decided to order this and soooo happy I did. The Trubar flavors all have a very mild taste to them and I read on someone review that it needed more coconut. I love coconut even if its mild. These definitely have coconut in them enough to satisfy my taste buds. My favorite flavor so far with strawberry one placing second and cookie dough placing 3rd. And the PB&J placing last because my taste buds just don't pick up on the pb&j. But these coconut do taste like a macaroon. Put them in the fridge. The strawberry is a hint of strawberry again nothing overly sweet but you can taste it
