Sturdy, works as expected, well written instructions.
This is the best lockbox I was able to find on the internet. It is supposed to be harder to break into as opposed to the more usual button lockboxes from the same brand. It is indeed a bit more tricky to open but if a person can read, they should be able to follow the few instructions to get it right on the first try. The only downside I see is that if a person is closing the lockbox, they often just push the black button up and forget to twist the dial, leaving the lockbox unlocked and its key unprotected even though it looks closed. Again, people who can read and follow instructions should not make this mistake, but they still do. I wish there was some mechanism in place that would prevent this from happening. One more reason to put the lockbox inside yet another box. E.g. I installed it into the TayMac MM410W Single-Gang Horizontal/Vertical Mount Weatherproof In-Use Cover that somebody recommended here in the reviews. It fits perfectly. Hides the unit well. And prevents the key from falling on the ground in case somebody does not lock the lockbox. Last thing, I used longer screws than those provided, but they still would work.

Easy to open and set combination - follow these instructions!
This is a solid. heavy lock box. It is also easy to set if you have the directions and a modicum of assembly ability. If you don't have directions, try this: 1. Open the lockbox. 2. Remove two screws to open the back of the door. 3. Spin the dial until the 3 plasic wheels and 2 metal pieces fall out. 4. Spin the dial until the 3 arrows point straight up. 5. Place the bottom wheel on with the first letter at the arrow. 6. Place one metal piece. 7. Place the second wheel, the second metal piece, and the final wheel as above. 8. Screw on the door back. 9. Test the combination WITHOUT putting it in the lockbox several times; if it fails go back to step 2. 10. DONE! It is easy to put the wheels on offset by one letter, so be careful, and test several times to make sure it is correct. To open from the factory, try combo "SPI": Spin clockwise to S, counterclockwise PAST S to P, then back to I, then press down the black lever. A common mistake is to not go PAST the S before stopping at P. The only issue I had was the wheels are plastic and I'm worried enough force might break this open, though the thin metal pieces in between should help strengthen it. It comes with 4 screws to install, and even the back is thick so even pulling it off a wall won't grant easy access. The only tool you need to set and install is a Phillips screwdriver. This box is highly rated as one of the more difficult to crack the combination, and it works great for years. On older versions I've used the black lever had a spring and it closed automatically; on my new one, you have to push it back up, and it stays in the correct position to close without having to do the whole combination again. So just unlock your front door, put it back inplace, and to re-lock, just push the black lever up and spin the dial a little. Very simple! The storage room inside is about 2.75"x 1.5" x 7/8", enough for several house keys. My 1998 Honda remote and large car key both barely fit inside together, though not on a key ring.

Good lockbox, but dial sticker is vulnerable to the elements
I use one of these to hide a spare house key, and it feels very secure when mounted to a wall with all four of the included screws. The lock is as easy to operate as a standard locker padlock (although the letters run counterclockwise, which can be confusing) and the combination is easy to reset if you follow the instructions (it only took me a few minutes). This is a sturdy lockbox, and its only flaw seems to be that the letters are printed on some kind of plastic sticker that’s glued to the dial. After about a year, the sticker on mine became discolored and brittle, and started peeling off the dial. I was able to superglue the sticker back onto the dial before it fell off completely, but I would strongly suggest installing the lockbox with a protective cover, especially if it’s located somewhere sunny. I bought the TayMac MM410G outlet cover that’s mentioned in other reviews, and it fits the lockbox perfectly without any modifications.

Built like a tank, and I found the perfect cover
This thing is solid, thick, and heavy. There is a removable clip on the inside for your key, but some people said this clip can get caught in the lock mechanism, so I took it out. There was no weather cover available, and I found the perfect solution: TayMac MM410C Weatherproof Single Outlet Cover Outdoor Receptacle Protector, 2-3/4 Inches Deep. It is designed for electrical outlets, and it perfectly fits over the Kidde box. The opening on the back exposes all mounting holes of the Kidde, so you can still mount it directly on your surface of choice, although there will be a gap in between due to the thickness of the cover (so you will probably want to use longer screws). If you're really ambitious, you could cut out the entire back wall of the plastic cover so the Kidde could be flush against the mounting surface, and perhaps you could glue the cover on the mounting surface. I'm okay with a gap, though. Since the cover is intended for a receptacle, it helps disguise the Kidde too. It also has ports that can drain rainwater. The door on the cover has hinges for the short edge (swing up vertically) or the long edge (swing right horizontally). EDIT: If you want an opaque metal cover for heavier duty protection, the “TayMac MX3200 RaynGuard Extra Duty Metal Weatherproof in-Use Cover, 1-Gang, Gray” works well, except it has raised screw holes at the back so the Kidde is not flush. I solved this by gluing a couple of small square dowels with epoxy and put the Kidde against those. I decided to use square aluminum for extra weather resistance, but wood would probably work fine too.

Durable and secure
You can easily find professional reviews of this online and it comes highly recommended for its durability and security. It's harder to pick than competitor products, to the point that a potential thief may have to destroy the safe (along with the key inside) just to open it. That sounded like endorsement enough for us, so we bought it to put our spare gate key inside for delivery guys and the like. The only minor complaint is that the combination is difficult to set properly, though there are YouTube videos to help you do that, so it's not all bad. A recommendation I saw that I will repeat here is do not lock the safe until you've tried unlocking and locking it successfully three times in a row. Once you lock it, if you screwed up you will not be able to re-open the safe if the door is on the housing. If you lock it with the door off, you can just unscrew the back plate and start over. So test the combination thoroughly with the door off multiple times before you commit to locking it for the first time. If anything, this is a testament to how secure the darn thing is that you'll accidentally lock yourself out if you're careless.

Can't Open: Initial Combination Faulty
I have no idea what is wrong with the product, but seriously, it just does not open... After I have tried unsuccessfully to open this thing for 30min after the package arrived, I gave it to my fiancé without telling him anything at all... He tried unsuccessfully as well. After that we asked a friend and no success there either. I have tried turning the thing on all sides, shaking it and overall it is about the most frustrating thing ever. I am also super disappointed with this product as I feel I can't possibly be this stupid and by now I'm convinced that there is something wrong with the product. Also looking at the product more closely I think it looks quite sturdy and would work well for storing a key... But considering that it just does not open I can't give a higher rating...

Just what I needed
I got this for my family to use when they stopped by and didn't have their keys. Honestly, the first one I bought I couldn't get to work at all. It got locked and I couldn't get it unlocked. Then I tried to reset the combination and couldn't get that done. Finally, I sent it back and the company sent a new one right out. I didn't even try to set the new one up--I let my granddaughter do it (she's very handy!) and she got it set up in no time. I've used it a number of times when I would leave my house key in the car or had misplaced it and it has been very easy to use. It seems sturdy and even if someone could get it off the wall, I don't know how they would get it open without a sledgehammer. I recommend this highly!
