Great desktop best of both world
With Amazon Prime I paid additional 10$ to get next day. Did not have to pay tax! Microcenter had same item in very similar price but had to pay tax. 140$ savings!!I am a long time software developer PC/Microsoft side. Made dual boot with windows 8. Works great, very quiet CPU. My desktop is clutter free now with only one physical machine that works as PC and Mac. Very powerful with Xeon server processor. Dual boot (instead of virtualization software) selected to save software cost and get benefit of all CPU, memory resources. CPU box is very sleek, little large (than mid tower PC), clutter free inside, no visible wires comparing to usual PC CPUs. The hard drive mounting trays are very easy to use, no wires need to put into hard drive, hard drive in tray slides into SATA power and data ports directly! The only complain I had was Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard does not work to boot secondary OS (in my case I made Mac OS secondary). So I have to keep an additional keyboard (I used Mac keyboard came with this machine) plugged into USB port just to press "Option" button. Once OS is up I can use the Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard and mouse fine.

Unless you have needs specific to Macs like unique software
I'm not a Mac hater or PC fan (I have use both platforms for 30 years). Still, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the crazy money new and used Mac computers and parts are getting. Unless you have needs specific to Macs like unique software, you are way better off buying a PC>

Computer dying on arrival, dead within minutes
I love my Apple gear but this is my second Mac Pro to arrive with serious problems. (My first, which I still have and use, was more than 4 years ago--it had to be replaced as well). This time the machine made a lot of odd noise (rattling) on boot. Shortly later, trying to start it, it would not even power on. I called Amazon and they suggested I call Apple. I did, and took it in to a local Apple store. They pronounced it dead and speculated a bad logic board but were not sure. They instructed me to return it to Amazon. I contacted Amazon and was issued a call ticket. Amazon accepted the return and processed a refund. Thanks Amazon!I have not replaced the unit as yet (price went up $250 from the sale price I bought it at). I'm waiting to see if the price drops again and still using my old Mac Pro in the meantime.I gave this product 3 stars because of the logic board failure. Otherwise it would be a 5 star as I know the product well.

Mac Pro Desktop get the jobs done.
My new Mac Pro is the most powerful mac I have ever owned. I use my Mac for my job as a graphic designer plus so many more things like media center for my Apple TV and ITunes storage with the help of the additional drive bays which I loaded with 2 3TB hard drives. This Mac makes every day tasks simple to organize and keeps me updated with text messages and email. The best Mac I have ever owned.

Ugh, Apple's desktop line
I am a fairly big Apple fan I really enjoy their phones, tablets, laptops, iPods, etc but their desktop line just isn't up to snuff. Each desktop has a major short coming. The MacPro is wildly out of date not containing modern specs and is enormous. I would love to have a box that is 50% to 75% of the current size as I don't use many of the specs it has two optical drives, two processors (which total up to twelve processor cores!) four hard drive bays, several slots I don't use, etc. Although most of Apple's portable line comes with Retina displays (the exceptions only being the iPad Mini and Macbook Air) none of the desktop line comes with Retina displays. Instead you get a massive 27" lower resolution display. I would trade that display in for a 20"-23" retina display any day.Your only other option for a stand alone computer is to go with the super underpowered Mini. A machine that comes packed with great multimedia software and with none of the power to use any of it. Along with the huge performance lag the storage limit for each hard drive tops off at 1TB and only uses the pokey 5400-rpm drives (or expensive SSDs that are very limited in capacity.)I would really like to think that the iMac is the midrange machine that offers a nice balance between the extremes of the Mini and the Pro but I am sorry to say it simply is not that machine but rather contains everything bad about both the Mini and the Pro in one machine. When the iMac was introduced Phil Schiller gushed about how thin it was but one look at the specs and you soon see were the massive trade offs are. The iMac is supposed to be the mid range machine but actually has fewer HDs then the Mini and the reasonably sized 21.5" version comes with only the painfully slow 5400 drive found in the Minis. While the Pro has more drives then I could ever know what to do with the iMac doesn't even contain an extra internal drive to do my back ups on. The last time I did a review on the iMac I was flooded with comments that were telling me that I should just plug an external drive into the iMac. Apparently there is some confusion to what an ALL IN ONE computer is. All in one means that you don't have to keep plugging in all these different devices to make it work right but that everything works all in that one computer. If it doesn't do that then failed to do the one thing it set out to do.
