Introducing the NEW 24 x 9.5 (I.D.) Knife Block with 3 - 9" rare earth magnet strips for holding even more knives, now available!! The Drop Block offers 3 sizes and 5 finishes for your under cabinet knife storage. The smaller unit is ideal for people with VERY limited cabinet space. The Drop Block removes clutter from your counters and allows you to see your entire selection of knives. With a traditional knife block, you are constantly lifting one knife after another to see if it is the one you want. With The Drop Block this is eliminated because all knives are right in front of you when lowered. When The Drop Block is raised, they are out of sight and safely tucked away.

Magnets did not hold our Heavier knifes very well
The media could not be loaded. I was really happy with the look and build quality of the drop block, however was disappointed in strength of the magnets. We have pretty large heavier knives and the magnets just didn't hold them well enough to our liking, see video for demonstration. we ended up returning product but will keep my eye out for a better magnet design.

A good space saver.
Not bad. Saves a ton of space and has that cool-factor where you'll want to show everyone that comes over, and they will all be in awe.One issue is the mounting: If you mount the arm bases too close to the block, then there will be a collision if you push the block even slightly to either side. So be sure to leave a few millimeters on either side.I found the drawer required slightly too much force to open. This could be a plus to someone with kids perhaps. To lessen this force, I put thin rubber pads on the brackets (under the cabinet) where the holding magnets touch. This both lessened the hold, and made closing quieter.*3 Star deduction*: All magnets have fallen out after just 10 months of use! The glue is failing. It is kind of annoying to glue them back in, as they are so strong that putting them back in the hole is difficult (they are all pulling on each other).*2 STAR ADDITION*: Called the company and they sent replacement parts.

Great storage for MANY knives!
I've had this for just over one year and am very happy with it. As you can see from the pics, I have a ton of knives and several are quite large so I've started kind of overlapping them and the magnetic strength is still super strong even without direct contact to the magnets. The ones that are directly on top of the magnets are a little hard to get off but that doesn't bother me at all. BTW, this is a SMALL so I'm very pleased with the amount of knives I can get into it.What I love most is that it doesn't take up counter space and it leverages unused space under the cabinets. Perfect! I use it ALL the time and it's so conveniently located as I prepare food.I have an "old world" custom finish on my cabinets so I bought the Natural color with the intent to refinish it to match to the cabinets but as it turns out, it's a near perfect match so I didn't have to do anything to the finish. Bonus!I did have some challenges with installing it. If memory serves me, the pattern didn't quite line up with where the holes were but I was careful to compare the actual holes as I drilled because I think I had read others had some issues so I tried to get in front of any potential problems there. The one thing that prevents this from being "perfect" is I wish all the hardware could come in oil rubbed bronze to match my cabinet hardware. I purchased a handle but there's not much I can do about the brackets that actually hold the knife block, as you can see from one of the pics. It's not super noticeable so not the end of the world. This was in one review before I bought it but in case you miss it, the black part is NOT magnetic, it's like fiberglass/plastic/maybe wood? and the magnets are just round circles that are inserted into holes drilled into the black part. My original thought was I could get more knives in if I optimized the positions of the knives but you are kind of restricted by where those round magnets are since the black part is not also magnetic. I still can fit 10 knives (with 5 very large ones!) in it so no complaints here. Just an fyi!I do wish it were a little less expensive too...I held off buying this for several months because I didn't feel like I could justify the cost. I think if it were more in the $70-80 range, it would still be profitable but much more affordable and people like me would be more willing to splurge on it more quickly. I also would have been more inclined to buy the large size (I definitely have enough room for it, oh imagine the number of knives I could fit into THAT! Oh my.)Overall, a great purchase and worth the splurge! Good job, small businesswoman who created this product! :) Keep up the good work and I wish you continued success.

They were wonderful units until a couple months ago
I've had this product for a year and a half. They were wonderful units until a couple months ago. They started sagging a little bit and now they are almost completely open. They won't stay up and that's annoying for a product that I spent over $100 on. I've contacted the seller and am waiting to see if they have a suitable fix for the problem. I will update this review after I hear back from them.Update: The seller sent me magnets that attach to the block and it worked like a charm!
