SAMSUNG BAR Plus 256GB - 400MB/s USB 3.1 Flash Drive Titan Gray (MUF-256BE4/AM)

I received the Thumb Drive today and was quite surprised by the "Tiny Size" of the Drive. Looking at the picture given, you would think that it is a normal sized USB Drive but when you get it you will find that it is not even half the size of most of the Drives you might have become used to. I mean, it is really "tiny". My AC/Heating Vents are flat on the ground right beside my work desk and I was scared that if I drop it by chance, it might go right through the vent openings and disappear inside! Thankfully, I found that it is "just wide enough" at the end, to prevent it from slipping through. Still, I am taking no chances; I will try to keep it away from the vent cover.There is another thing about it which one of the users has written about. That is, it becomes HOT when used for some time. It could be because the outer casing is metallic and therefore, we feel the heat a lot more than in plastic drives. Still, the heat is a bit worrisome, if you are going to use it for long. Hopefully Samsung has tested it out and it won't breakdown simply because of heat buildup.The other thing I found missing is the "light". Most USB Drives have some kind of light which comes up when you insert it, telling you that it is securely in place. However, I couldn't see any light in it at all. There is nothing to tell me that it is securely attached and working. I believe they omitted it to simplify the design and eliminate any further heat buildup because of the light itself.Other than the above - which are not really defects but things you might have to get used to - I think this is a very good drive. I got 128-GB for under $15 from a dependable and prestigious company. Hopefully the product will live up to Samsung's reputation. So far, I will recommend.

Samsung makes quality hardware and they got this design right. It is simple and sleek which not only looks classy but ensures it fits into any USB port without crowding out other USB devices next to it. Since they make everything from the flash memory inside to the outer shell Samsung has total control over quality. Reliability is the main reason to buy this drive. The flash memory will last for many write cycles and the drive itself is built to take abuse. I gave this to a family member who accidentally put it through their washing machine and dryer but because Samsung wisely made it a sealed unit the drive survived. We did a full reformat to check every cell and there wasn't a single error. The drive came out of an extended wash and dry cycle fully operational. This is the USB drive to get.

It's exactly as advertised... if not more, to be honest. I get a hair over 400MB/s read speeds and a little over 100MB/s write speeds. It's blazing fast. I haven't even tested it on my PCI-e x1 Gen 3.2 Gen 1 USB expansion card which, for whatever reason, tends to get more speed than using my motherboard's USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. I've used it to transfer game files and movies from one PC to another and it just holds that 403ish MB/s read speed the entire time. Even though it gets a little warm, it doesn't throttle. It doesn't get hot by any means in my experience. Not that it would bother me if it did, I had an "UlftraFit" drive before this that actually got hot lol, but it never had any impact on performance.This one gets warm after a long transfer of a couple hundred Gigabytes of data and does not slow down at all. I'm loving it.

It's funny looking and doesn't lay as flat in my pocket like other drives.Something that also doesn't lay flat in my pocket is my set of keys, on my key ring.I wondered how long I could carry a drive on my key ring before it broke.After daily carrying for a year and a half, cycling three flash drives through the rotation, the drives look like they can handle the stress. And that odd shape looks like it might let them lay flatter with the keys.I've lost thumb drives before. I don't think that's going to be a problem anymore.They don't have a cover, so I use a throw away cap from a USB-A cable to keep the dust out.They're fast.

I purchased it in 2019, and it's dead now. It has a five-year warranty, and thus, now it is 2025. 6 years after purchase...They met their agreement...but I hoped it would last longer. From my eye, it looks like it should work, no damage to the parts. It served me pretty well for 5 years. I will miss it. I popped on hear to see how long the warranty was. I suppose I have nothing to Durability:4.9 - Didn't last more than 5 years.Why did you pick this product vs others?:Samsung drives are normally great, I have a T5 and T7 drive and had a very, very small 256 one that I liked...not sure where it went, it's so small and cute. Connectivity:It was pretty fast USB 3.1Data loss:Drive is dead, so the Data was lost after the warranty.Value for money:Good value, a replacement is 22ish on Prime Day but not repurchasing.
