Railway Children (Wordsworth Children's Classics) Review: Love these books! - I'm absolutely so pleased with these books! Not only do they feature the classic stories and novels of the past, but the details of the actual book make them true collector editions. The parchment/paper is so smooth and have a lovely texture. The hardcover is very sturdy, but I like the size because they are still quite light enough to comfortably hold in your hand as you're reading. Also, the love how the title has gold foil and the covers feature beautiful artwork/paintings! I've purchased a few different books from this collection and kept a few for myself, but I've also given them as gifts. The recipients of these books have been so pleased and surprised by how pretty and lovely they are. They will look good on anyone's shelf. As they add more titles, I plan to purchase more to add to my collection! Excellent quality! Review: Beautiful edition of a classic - This is a very lovely edition of an amazing classic! The story of the children is interesting all the way through the book, and builds to an ending that is satisfying. It’s set in early 20th century England and gives wonderful insight into that time period while telling a perfect story of three siblings.

120 Years Old and Still Young
This was my first E Nesbit novel, though I had read her simplifications of Shakespeare's plots for young people, which I liked a lot. Other than a few alarming moments that would not fit today's sensibilities, including one regarding "gender types" in the penultimate chapter that I don't know what to make of... this is as good a reading for kids and grownups as I know. I am recommending it to everyone, both as a good read, and to highlight cultural assumptions then to now. Edith Nesbit's name kept coming up as an influence on later writers, and I see why. Clear, clever, dry, never boring, and with wonderful story moments. A gem. P.S. The pop-down menu asked me "How old (in years) was the person you got this book for?" and it stopped at 18. I'm almost 65, but I teach storytellers, including children's book writers, and I think I appreciate this book as much at 65 than I would have as a kid. Maybe more.

Great for family reading!
We really enjoyed this book as a family! My kids are 2, 6 &7, and this book was pretty good for all of them (and the grown ups too!). From an adult perspective, I felt there were some gaps in the story. From the youngest’s perspective it was, perhaps, too descriptive. But the story is very engaging, from a little mystery, to the ever-important-to-two-year-olds topic of trains, there is room in each character to identify with, and enough whimsy to engage everyone! I am ok with owning it, but It would have been just as well to borrow it from a library too.

Beautiful book!
I paid a couple of extra dollars for this cover art and am so glad I did! This book quickly became one of our favorites (my children are 9, 7 and 4) and now we have a beautiful copy to re-read and treasure.

paperback cover art not as displayed
Not the cover I anticipated, the image on this listing for the paperback is misleading. The book was also bent and had a sticky substance on the back…my guess is that it was previously returned. Of course the story is a classic and I think everyone should read it. Just pick a different copy.
