Frank Lloyd Wright Natural Design: Lessons for Building Green from an American Original : Hess, Alan, Weintraub, Alan: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Refreshing - I have been a fan of Mr FL Wright's work for years and have bought a number of books on his architecture. This book brings together a number of pictures I have not seen before and explores the setting of his houses in their natural environment; his "organic" architecture in a new perspective. Focus is also on his less "grand" houses which is great. A nice addition to my collection. Review: a detail study of almost all FLW works and the logical thinking behind the major decisions taken

I've read many books about (and a few by) Wright, and this ranks among the very best for me. The text is thought-provoking, discussing Wright's many innovations in home design (and some of his failures), and the ways in which he presaged the current Green building perspective. And the dozens of photos are stunningly beautiful--better than most other photos of these houses I've ever seen. Highly recommended.

Poco da dire, splendide foto di splendide abitazioni create dal maestro. Tanti utili spunti per chi ama questo tipo di stile

I had cancelled the order well in advance but no consideration nor communication from the seller. So i had to pay for the return when it could have been avoided. Concerning the book, the pictures are of poor quality.

This book does a great job of balancing the amount of text with example pictures of Frank Lloyd Wright's buildings. I also like that the author points out, "We should not idolize Wright. His buildings did not always live up to his own ideals, let alone our idealizations of him," (p.13), and he gave a few examples. He also points out how our Green movement is at odds with some of Wright's ideas, like reliance on cars. It puts Wright into perspective: he was only human and made mistakes as he experimented with new materials and new technologies as they became available, but a lot of his ideas were sound and that's what the book mostly explores. This book does a great job of showing Wright's ideas of designing houses to work with sunlight, wind, and water to create energy efficiency and a comfortable living environment in various climates; working with nature instead of against it.
