Denis Wick Classic Cornet Mouthpiece - 4B - (5881)

I was on the hunt for a new mouthpiece for a long time and, not knowing much about them, I struggled. This mouthpiece was recommended by a fellow cornet player, and I must say, it's been fantastic since purchasing. Highly recommend!

Arrive quickly. Bought to replace my old Denis Wick 4B gold plated mouthpiece after returning to playing after 20 years break. Excellent smooth finish as expected, sound produced is much better than using the cheaper spare mouthpieces I had lying around. This is the mouthpiece recommended to started learning with many years ago and I'm still very happy with it. Highly recommended.

I have never played cornet or trumpet or, for that matter, any brass instrument in my life. After purchasing this mouthpiece I have quickly learnt how to buzz and now I am working on the clarification of sound and tones. As from an absolute beginner, I think it is a wonderful mouthpiece. This mouth piece was purchased for my 8yr old Grandson who has been learning to play a cornet for the past 2yrs or so. I am a retired brass player having started learning at the age of 7yrs. The Dennis Wick mouth piece purchased is Quality and gives a very good tone and enhanced his upper range considerably. The quality of finish is superb and we are both highly delighted with the purchase.

The mouthpiece was just as ordered but somewhere along the way the box containing the mouthpiece was trampled on. The problem is that if I don't get on with it and want to sell it I don't have the original box . Fortunately the mouthpiece itself wasn't damaged. Perhaps you can arrange a new box and post it flat to my address? Thank you Martin

Das Mundstück ist ok, eignet sich aber nicht für Trompete ( Bach) Dieses Mundstück kann ich nur mit einem Adapter gebrauchen. Diese Mündstück ist für Cornett und Flügelhorn geeignet, leider. Muss ich jetzt so hinnehmen. Die Größe vom Mundstück wurde mit denis Wick 3 bestellt , aber es kam Denis Wick 4 Mit freundlichen Gruß Wolfgang Spengler

The Denis Wick 2B cornet mouthpiece, is exactly the mouthpiece result I was looking for. It gives me a great big and softly beautiful classic cornet sound. It also provides a much warmer and slightly darker tone than the mouthpiece that came with my 1951, Olds "Special" cornet (which was a bit too trumpety sounding). The lower register with this mouthpiece is simply amazing! A deep, full and rich low register and a nice, mellow singing voice in the upper register. I'm also finding it much easier to reach the high notes with this mouthpiece. I've been playing on a Denis Wick 1C on my trumpet for over a decade, and this 2B cornet MP, is the perfect complement when switching from trumpet to cornet. This 2B MP has given me a greater appreciation for my cornet and I will be playing it much more frequently. This was a very good, standout purchase!

I bought this Wick 4B from Amazon for my cornet and have been playing with it exclusively for about a week and a half now. I really like it. It has a deeper cup and more open bore than I'm used to, but I've been giving myself some time to adjust. It's coming together better than I expected. Responsiveness was good right away, and my sound is starting to focus. My intonation has been off a bit, but that's my fault, not the piece---anyway, that's starting to come around too. I had read some comments from other cornet players on web forums who said that they thought the inside of the rim on Wick pieces was too sharp, which made endurance difficult. This hasn't been a problem for me at all. I think the shape of the mouthpiece is really good, playable and comfortable. The main reason I bought this piece was to try and get more of a characteristic cornet sound with my cornet playing---less "trumpety." The Wick 4B gives me that. It isn't a drastic difference, but my sound is more "cornety" than what I was getting with my Bach-style pieces. Just a shade darker, but still clear and resonant, not muffled, and with a somewhat brighter sound within reach if I drive the air a bit. I'm happy with my purchase, and I'd recommend this piece to other cornet players.

Is there a place for me to complain about the shipping? This mouthpiece is intended to be a gift and the box is pretty beat up from its journey. The mouthpiece itself seems fine, but couldn’t it be protected better during shipping?
