Charbroil® Surefire® Electronic Ignition Module - 8678636P06

I inherited a really nice JennAir BBQ that needed some TLC. The igniter on it needed to be replaced and this one seemed to be the best match for a reasonable price. Installation was easy, and it works well. Very happy with this purchase.

Fit an older 4 burner + side burner Charbroil Grill perfectly. Was a little larger than the original but there was plenty of room behind the front panel for installation. The inclusion of igniter buttons for a plain jane grill without a fancy start system plus a button for an upscale grill was nice. The tolerances on the push button were a little tight so if overtightened it would constantly spark, so I took the button off, worked it a few times and then snugged it back up. Works great now, good spark at all the burners and my grill is working again without having to start with a lighter.Happy buyer here.

It worked perfectly. I installed this Char-Broil Surefire universal electronic ignition module (Item model number 8678636p06) together with a new Char-Broil Surefire universal electronic ignition button (Item model number 9446392). It worked perfectly with my Char-Broil grill model 463251413. This module supports grills that have 1-5 burners. My grill has 2 burners; so I used only 2 of the 5 ignitor wire connectors on the back of this module. The "SNAP-SNAP" sound is working again. Note: It may not be necessary, but I used electrical tape to cover the 3 ignitor wire connectors that weren't needed.

Perfect fit for my Commercial Series 4 burner....which leads me to my one complaint. If you have a 5 burner (or 4 burner with a side burner) it works perfectly fine with the instructions as listed. If you have a 4 burner, make sure you attach two of the wires to each side of the igniter port. There are three ports on one side of the module and two on the other; the side with two MUST have two wires connected to it, otherwise NEITHER of the two ports will work.I take off a star for Char Broil not listing this in their directions, as I think this is pretty obviously something they designed to operate in that manner. Other than that small hang up which made a 3 minute installation a 10 minute installation, it works perfectly and is priced right!Also, it didn’t matter for my particular model grill, but this item does NOT include the wires pictured, it only comes with the module, the plastic nut, two caps (one for the remote button models and one for those without remote buttons) and a small jumper wire.

This was a perfect replacement for my Charbroil gas grill. Installed easily, fit perfectly, and works flawlessly

Easy install replacement, works fine.Before removing old one, look at the lines in and pay attention to any double-sized plugs. You’ll want to put them on the big connector on the new and then put the small ones anywhere.Also, don’t forget to take off plastic nut beforehand—the outer cover will likely not screw on properly if not removed. Easy to miss since but is same color as the plastic screw, almost looks like one piece.

This replacement ignition module has a very rapid spark rate. It supplies several strong sparks each second, which is much better than the original module it replaced.

No knock against the seller. But a product that advertises "Universal" and features the Char-Broil logo on the instructions ought to fit. Our Char-Broil grill has a narrower diameter hole and this product would NOT fit.Maybe the ad on Amazon could specify "5/8" hole only" or something... maybe a link to the 3/8" version or whatever. Off topic: why on earth would Char-Broil even consider having different sizes anyway???
