The Leaf Men

my son has loved this book since he was 6, and now at 13, lists this among his all-time favorites. i have compiled a lists of books to give to friends/family and this book is on my gift-giving list for boys/girls ages 4-7. my son and i love all of william joyce's books. beautiful illustrations and wonderful, quirky, heartwarming stories.

I was divorced a few years ago, and desperately trying to be a good dad...my daughter and I developed a strong connection, and this book became something very special to us. We get it out every now and then, and read it together...it never grows old or tired. It is a wondrous work, a marriage of images and moving story. Simple, yes, but tapping into something very deep. I am very grateful to William Joyce for this book.

Absolutely lovely story and fabulous illustrations. I bought it to read to my 4 year old grandson who loves insects. He and I were enthralled by it. You will never be disappointed by a book by William Joyce.

Beautifully illustrated, but some of the pages are mostly so dark you have to really look to see the details. Nice imaginative story. My grandson requests reading this book, so that gives it the thumbs up.

Although the story of the Leaf Men is quite different than Epic the movie, the strong foundation of the Leaf Men and their everlasting diligence as protectors of the forest are truly the main characters. It's easy to see how Epic was derived from this story bringing the Leaf Men to life in a wonderful, truly delightful, and beautifully imagined movie. William Joyce's books are all gems and should be brought to screen. The Leaf Men and Epic was purchased for my two nieces (7 and 12) after having seen Epic three times not knowing it was based on a book, so they can understand how a book is transformed into a screenplay, then into a movie; and that the movie can be different than the book itself but the foundation of the book remains the same. They loved reading the Leaf Men and Epic and is now one of their favorite movies.

I fell in love with this book when I was a little kid and needed one of my own. Wonderful story. Quick shipping. Truth in advertising, ( I bought a used copy and it was in a very good condition)

Nice story. It was a "meh" for my 6 year old. I guess it more for 5 and under.

Well written and entertaining. Illustrations are fantastic and the story line unique. Enjoyable and relaxing hero comes to the rescue bedtime read.

I bought this book to go with the DVD Epic for a birthday present for my 7 yr old son. We saw the film and I found out it was based on this book. The book is wonderful. The illustrations are amazing and the story is fantastic. It is a little dark in places but a true good versus evil story so that bit is soon forgotten. My son read it without any problems or nightmares. Thoroughly recommend!

Una historia sobre el valor de los recuerdos, de las personas mayores y de los pequeños héroes que se enfrentan a los peligros para arreglar las cosas. Cuanto más lo leo, más me gusta. Lo compré porque es la historia en la que está basada la película Epic, aunque tiene muy pocos puntos en común. De todos modos, no importa- tiene valor por sí mismo.

I bought this book for my 7 year old granddaughter following the film "epic" and she loved it. there is nothing to dislike about it, it arrived in time for her birthday and I would recommend this book to youngsters who enjoy reading and enjoy being read to.
